She refused to treat me because I used a different doctor for my laser correction

My cataract surgery presented unique challenges being the right eye needed a lens beyond the normal toric lens prescription. Following surgery, both eyes developed scarring of the lens capsule on the front side (a very rare occurrence) After querying 70 other eye surgeons about the proposed treatment, Dr. Epitropoulos used a laser and successfully removed the scarring in both eyes. Today my eyesight is 20/20 without glasses. Attention to detail, excellent consultation skills (I always knew what and why treatments were selected) and a true dedication to achieving the best outcome along with first rate bedside manor make Dr. Epitropoulos your best choice for cataract surgery.

Consistently long wait time for each appointment . Wish they could work on fixing that issue .

I was placed in a study last year and yes I agreed but when I kept getting worse I was not offered any hope for improved vision or decrease in pain. Left and went to another doctor he rescued me and while I have scars on my cornea now I am glad I listened to my heart and not the $

Dr. Alice Epitroplous wanted nothing to do with us unless we shelled out $900 for a LipiFlow treatment, which needed repeating every 9-12 months, gave no guarantee of success and insurance won’t cover. She tells my husband that she knows it is an expensive treatment and because she “likes us”, she will do us a favor by knocking the price down from what she normally charges of $1500 to $900. We both felt the doctor seemed sketchy, so after the visit we called ophthalmologists in Columbus that carried Lipiflow and they all told us that the current procedure rate is $900. We also called TearScience, the manufacturer of LipiFlow and found out that she is a paid consultant for them. She never disclosed this to us. She also recommended, to the point of being pushy, an expensive brand of fish oil where she also receives compensation from the manufacturer as a consultant. We didn’t feel like we got treated for anything, it was just sales pitch after sales pitch. Doctors are… supposed to be caring and helpful. Dr. Epitopolulous is only in this for your money.

I went to this doctor for cataract surgery. She diagnosed me with narrow angles which increased my risk for glaucoma. I had not increased eye pressure. The doctor advised me to get an iridotomy as a preventative. Without getting a second opinion I had the procedure done. Now I have an image of my eyelid when I blink; it is quite difficult to deal with this impairment of my vision. I recommend people to get a second opinion re this procedure. I was informed of the side effects but didn't realize what I would have to deal with post procedure.

Doctor Epitropoulos and her staff are amazing! For such a large and busy office, they generally do not keep me waiting a long time, and yet they spend as much time with me as I need to make sure I understand everything. I had my first cataract surgery done there a few years ago, and the second one last week. They make sure that everything goes smoothly, and that I am always comfortable. It's wonderful to be able to see again, and I would not want to trust my eye surgery to anyone else!

After being referred to Alice Epitropoulos by the Cincinnati Eye Institute, I called her office to schedule an appointment. I had heard so many positive things about her that I was looking forward to becoming her patient. What a surprise when I called her office and was denied an appointment. After telling the receptionist about the referral from CEI, I was asked the reason for my visit THREE times (not to mention having to spell it each time), I was told that Dr. Epitropoulos would NOT see me. I moved to the Columbus area one year ago. Fearing taking a chance on an unknown physician from a yellow page search, I made plans to visit my former physician in Florida. In the future, I will return to Cincinnati (or Florida) for my care. My physician in Florida (and CEI_ have agreed to continue my treatment. It will be a huge inconvenience to travel long distance to obtain care, but well worth it. Dr. Epitropoulos may be recognized (by others) for her reputation, but I don't think… words can begin to describe my opinion of her and her "practice".
