Clinical but helpful

I saw this doctor for 20 years. She was very friendly and I think she thought she was doing good work with me. My depression was extremely severe--life threatening. I needed to be placed inpatient and she did not send me there. I was unable to function in my life and I finally got to a point where I gave up. I attempted suicide. And nearly succeeded. I went to the hospital where they gave me a LOT of ECT shock treatment to pull me out of the depression. With my new therapist, I was able to go to an inpatient program off and on for a year until I was better able to manage myself. I am on totally different meds. Freeman had me comatose. I couldn't wake up for work in the mornings because of the medications. Now, I wake up just fine. And I sleep just fine---without a nightly sleep med. I feel Dr. Freeman failed me. I needed a higher level of care for 10 years!!!! And she kept sending me to "day hospital"...and I failed there too because I couldn't get out of BED to drive… myself there. Now, I have a real treatment plan that I know about and understand and we work towards goals rather than just free style talking that never got me anywhere.
