Dr. Herlihy misdiagnosed my father in the ICU with interstitial lung disease when in fact he had a Transfusion Related Acute Lung Injury (TRALI). She had written him off because of his age (90) and told him and my family he was going to die and we needed to “let him go.” After we insisted he be intubated, a bronchoscopy was performed and she suctioned out a ton of mucous that was hindering his breathing. He would not be here today if we had followed her advice.

I would warn everyone against using Dr. Alice Herlihy and Pulmonary Associates if you care about your health and your loved ones. Go to VCU health and find a good competent doctor. This woman couldnt even diagnose my father’s pneumonia. She threw a few new expensive inhalers at him and said see you in 3 months. My father has an auto immune disorder that she was made well aware of and not being competent enough to diagnose pneumonia could have cost him his life. We switched to another doctor within the practice but today my father was in the hospital again due to his autoimmune disorder and she was on call for consult since he was having trouble breathing. When my mother raised her concerns about the lack of urgency of the practice, Dr. Herlihy said “What do you expect? For us to see him once a month?” That’s the level of care you will receive from this woman and practice.
