Dr Thorne is the most kind and thoughtful Provider and takes her time to talk with you and make an intelligent treatment plan. She really cares for her Patients! First of all, allow me to begin with the requirement by this, and apparently all other "Specialist" offices to obtain a referral from a patient's PCP. In short, whether you want to admit it or not, we as the general public are being told we're far too stupid to know when we require the services of a specialist, as opposed to a generalist. Next? Referral was made; three weeks -- THREE. WEEKS. -- later I'm still waiting for an indication of whether I "made the cut" or not to see the esteemed doctor. Symptoms include multiple secondary symptoms of hypothyroidism; consistent Vitamin D deficiency; high iron (a new condition) as well as recent changes in skin and other issues. After demanding my PCP test for hypothyroidism due to multiple primary and secondary symptoms, I was told "Well, your thyroid is .01 above low, so you're not low, you're normal." Thus, trust me, eroding ANY faith I may've had in my generalist listening to the rest of the symptoms I'd indicated. So how does this… tie in to Dr. Thorne's office? Simple. Before they'll consent to allow me to spend MY money on an appointment, they demanded any and all test results done -- which only include the original thyroid panel. In my mind it's simple: A generalist does NOT have the specialized knowledge available to someone who's immersed themselves in a field of study. Rather than go through a plethora of tests (and money!) just to eventually get sent on to an endocrinologist, I'd kinda like to just get it all done at once. Apparently logic and common sense are lacking in the specialized medical industry. I'm sure, if you've jumped through the hoops, paid the appropriate fees to your general doc for however long until people say "Fine, we'll see you!" you're not SOL when it comes to seeking specialized care. Buyer beware indeed. Let's keep on telling non-medical personnel how stupid we are; how unable we are to determine for ourselves what medical care we wish to seek. Thanks for that, guys!

Dr. Thorne (nee Parks) is wonderful, it is the office manager Gail who is ruining the practice. Everytime you are on the phone with her, she will make you feel like you are bothering her in some way or another. Never have I met someone so perpetually rude. And if you happen to walk in to the office when she is mid conversation with her pharmaceutical sales friends or the other girls behind the desk, well you better wait your turn because her gossip is WAY more important than your appointment! All I can say is, if you don't like people and don't want to be helpful, then don't work a customer service job... If there were a way to see Dr. Thorne without having to experience Gail time after time, I would probably stay at the practice, but she's just not worth it.
