Dr. Alina Maria Voinea, MD

When the doctor first walked in, she introduced herself and immediately began asking about my previous rheumatologists. I explained the turnover I’ve experienced, being transferred to new providers, and now starting with new insurance. She gave a brief overview of rheumatoid arthritis and how it can affect the body. Then she conducted an exam that felt insufficient. She did not physically touch me as previous rheumatologists had. When we began discussing treatment, I was moved to tears because she delivered information without any sympathy or compassion. As I started crying, she said, “What did you expect me to say? That you don’t have RA? Because you do.” She also emphasized that she is the doctor, a comment that felt extremely dismissive. While she may treat the disease, she does not live with it, and she could learn so much from truly listening to and understanding her patients. Before leaving the room, she added, “You could stand to lose a few pounds,” which was incredibly… insensitive, especially since she made no effort to understand how my current pain and flare-ups have impacted my ability to exercise. The entire appointment felt rushed, dismissive, and devoid of empathy. I would strongly caution other patients, especially people of color, to avoid this provider due to the racial undertones and overall insensitivity in her approach.

Vionea's exact words to me were quote: "What does It matter If I help you or not, since you're already on Disability?" My reply was and is: finding answers matters, getting treatment matters, quality of life matters, suffering less matters. Voinea took several thousand in labs and never even called me back with results, because she had no intention of helping me in the first place. I was there to look for autoimmune issues, which is supposedly her area of expertise. My issues have been progressive and debilitating. Help matters. Human decency matters. Drs. Take an oath to help people and preserve Life. To Voinea that oath does not mean anything. To her, Human Life does not matter. It was abundantly clear, that I meant absolutely nothing to Voinea as a person, as a patient, or as a Human Being.

LRDC assigned me to Dr. Voinea after my first Rheumatologist left the practice. For my initial visit, she spent three minutes, asked about the wrong joints, and left the room. She knew nothing about my past issues with AS and seemed bothered that I was in the room.

Worst doctor ever!!!

Finally got in to see this doctor. I've had a few Rheumatologists in my life, and this one was the worst!!! Doesn't listen or care. Worst doctor ever.

Dr. Voinea is the worst doctor ever and I wish I could give her zero stars.She doesn't listen and like many other reviewers, she diagnoses everyone with fibromyalgia. I'm experiencing severe joint pain and my labs for over three years have been positive for Sjogrens, but she says it was fibromyalgia. I went in for a follow-up appointment. She told me that my x-rays are normal and that I don't have RA (I've never had swollen joints). She said it was fibromyalgia. I then asked her what the labs showed. This PATHETIC woman hadn't even looked at my labs. She came back in and said three areas were elevated and were still positive for Sjogrens. She initially told me to stop exercising so much and then told me to keep exercising because it can get worse if you quit working out. She then told me she would call in a prescription for me and that it takes three months to kick in. I WILL NOT RETURN TO SEE THIS QUACK!!!

I was referred to her by my neurosurgeon as he felt there was some underlying issues going on besides my degenerative disk and joint disease. First time I seen her she diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. I continued to see her but she wanted me to retake meds that had failed to work in the past. Would not help with all the pain I was in either. I also kept telling her I was having severe pain in my hips, all she would do or say was "its because of the fibromyalgia". Refused to do any xrays or check them at all. But I knew it was something else besides the fibro, I knew what that pain felt like, this went on for over a year, I only had medicaid and was not able to see another dr because of only being allowed 12 dr visits a yr. Went back to my neurosurgeon and he sent me to a sports medicine dr and within 20 minutes and 2 xrays I had a diagnoses as to why my hips were in so much pain and I could barely walk by this time, I was using a cane to get around and am only in my 30's. I was… diagnosed with FAI in both hips, torn labrum and had to have surgery asap before more damage was caused. I TRUSTED this dr to listen and have my best intrest at heart but she just blows you off and if you ask questions or have concerns she is very condescending and rude and makes you feel as though you are wasting her time or makes you feel stupid for even asking. Oh, and the meds she insisted I take had long term side affects on my memory, my migraines got worse and my hair started to fall out. I was always dizzy and could not focus my eyes, they always seemed blurry. I still deal with these side effects to this day. Would never recommend her to ANYONE!!! Horrible doctor!!!

My mother went to see this doctor. She has been diagnosed with Lupus for 15 years. It has attacked her heart and kidneys which has even caused her several a hospitals stays. This doctor walked into the room on my mothers first visit and said, you don't have Lupus! My mother started to tell her her history and she said "I don't care what anyone has told you you don't have Lupus"! My mother asked how can you know this with no bloodwork or exam. She said "I just know" my mother then asked her if she would check her BP because it was 164/92 that morning. This doctor told her "I don't do blood pressure" I am working on making a complaint with the medical board. She should not be practicing medicine!!!

I've been to a few Rhumetoligist. Dr. Voinea is the only one that listened and actually read my chart. She is an amazing specialist. She went over all my problems. She answered all my questions and made me feel good when I left her office. I've been dealing with several medical issues for years now and this is the first time I actually feel relieved.
