Dr. Alison Rachel Gardner

Early in my life, I required a surgery, and while it happened before I can remember, what I grew up understanding was how much my parents valued my pediatrician. He was always there to explain answers to any questions and medical concerns, and I knew they were reassured simply by his presence. That inspired me to become a pediatrician as well. \n Today, I love that I get to serve my patients and their families in a similar way. In particular, I love talking to parents, children and teenagers about eating a healthy diet and getting enough physical activity. I also try to instill the importance of good sleep and positive social friendships in maintaining good health. Great lifestyle habits start in childhood and can influence health and well-being for a lifetime. \n I am married and my husband and I have two young adult sons that we spend time with whenever we can. I volunteer at my church often and also spend plenty of time outside. I have a garden, chickens and beehives, and I enjoy …learning new urban farming techniques. I love trying new recipes using my fresh garden produce, and making loaves of sourdough bread to share with friends and neighbors as well!
