I grew up the daughter of a farmer and a teacher in Barnwell County, South Carolina.  I graduated from USC with a major in biology in 1977 and from MUSC College of Dental Medicine in 1982.  I have been in private practice in the Columbia area since graduation, having built my present office in Forest Acres in 2000.  My particular area of interest is the treatment of temperomandibular joint, occlusal disease and comprehensive aesthetic restorative dentistry, having attended and completed the course of study at the DawsonAcademy in St. Petersburg, Florida. 
I live with my husband in ArcadiaLakes.  We have two daughters, ages 25 and 23, two dogs and two cats.  When I am away from the office my passion is sailing and scuba diving in the Caribbean. But what I really want you to know is a little more about our office.  We are centrally located in Forest Acres, close to I-77 at the Forest Drive exit.  When you call our office you will speak with an actual …person (imagine!)  Our staff is very friendly and our goal is to get to know you.  (Yes, I know they all say that, but you will actually find that here.)  We have a very non-intimidating atmosphere (with island décor)!  
Our focus here is total health.  We know that oral health is intimately related to overall health.  There are many systemic problems that are discovered through examination of the mouth.  We check your blood pressure, do oral cancer and external head and neck screening for cancer as well as review your health history and any medications you may be taking and how they affect your oral health.  Having been a dentist for twenty eight years has allowed me to see many people “grow” with me.  I can say that people with healthy teeth and gums age more gracefully and are far more active in their elderly years than the folks who do not have healthy teeth and gums. Good dental care reflects good total health care.   We know that it is a partnership between you and us. 
We will do our part to help you get good oral health, from a simple prophylaxis to full mouth reconstruction, and to help you keep your mouth in top shape and will teach you to do a great job of maintaining your investment in yourself.
