Dr. Alison Maureen Sawyer, MD

Apparently because she’s the only endocrinologist in Santa Fe, she’ll see only people who “meet her criteria.” Sorry doc, if my PCP believes I need to see an endocrinologist, you need to take that seriously. Also the receptionist maybe should find a job she doesn’t hate? The whole office is appalling. Probably worth driving to ABQ for someone who will actually take care of you.

Dr. Sawyer is one of the few doctors who actually take the time to listen to all the issues to help guide my proactive approach to good health. Thank you.

Dr. Sawyer is personable, sincerely cares about my health, is extremely knowledgeable and knows exactly how to treat my condition. And she is FUN to be around. I have been through many endocrinologists, and she is by far the best of all. Highly recommend.

Doctor doesn't give patients opportunity to explain relevant medical history. Communicates poorly, doesn't explain Pharma options well. Offers boilerplate treatments based on insufficient patient case history info. Becomes impatient, if patient tries to provide more case info, as feedback to her treatment decisions. Unable to answer questions about some basic endocrine functions.

Takes the time to answer all your questions. Never did I feel rushed!

I showed up a day early for my appoinment and they worked me in anyway. Very efficient. Tests and outcomes were prompt and professional.

Dr. Sawyer has been my doctor for several years. I have always found her to be informed, insightful and interested in my comments. She is head and shoulders above any other Endocrinologist I have been to see in the past 20 years. She has always displayed a professional, pleasant attitude when answering my questions. She spends as much time as is necessary to be thorough.Her staff is pleasant and experienced having worked for her for a long time.

Doctor seems to function on automatic pilot. Does not take time to get facts from patient. Only reads bloodwork without getting further insight from patient, and bases a cookie-cutter treatment on paperwork only, not patient's complex history. Difficult personality, poorly informed. Disbelieves crucial parts of patient's history, tries to argue with patient! This doctor is a train wreck, unless you fit into a very narrow textbook-defined mold.

I substantiate Ann patient and Angry patients comments. Dr. Sawyer just read the medical record and made decisions based upon it without listening intently to the patient's experience. Her HRT knowledge is abysmal. She does not seem to look very deep in issues. She accepts the Quest laboratory diagnosis without investigation into the metric. Unless it is a textbook diagnosis, she offers little insight or interest into problems. She does not respond to messages/inquiries, rarely makes eye contact, and seems generally dis-interested in the patients well-being. To be fair, all people have their strengths and weaknesses. If your problem is black/white she may be fine, but if your problem is undiagnosed or not clear then stay away.
