Dr. Allan Nineberg, MD

This man ruined my life. Gave me the wrong drug which led to a severe psychotic break.

As someone who is very skeptical with the medical community and doctors, Dr. Nineberg is great. He is honest and tells you the hard truth when you need to hear it but he listens to you, does not push medication when not necessary, is open minded, and smart. I trust him and that is very rare.

Dr. Nineberg is an excellent psychiatrist: he has been outstanding in diagnosing and treating me for over 10 years. As I've grown more aware of myself and can report better, I have found him respectful of my autonomy. He listens, adjusts medicines if necessary and appropriate but isn't too quick to change treatment that needs time to work.When I had a couple of emergencies he returned my calls immediately and dealt with prescriptions very efficiently.I understand that a bedside manner can be reassuring, but for diagnosis and treatment as good as his, I'll take the most competent and the heck with the niceities. A prospective patient should be receiving treatment with a "talk therapist".This isn't just about "bedside manner." It has been demonstrated again and again that the most effective treatment for depression is a combination of talk therapy and medicine.

I saw Dr. Nineberg for many years, and it took many more to undo the damage he did. I will not go into the details of my experience except to urge you to find a doctor who has empathy, warmth, understanding and a friendly, honest demeanor. Dr. Nineberg possesses none of these qualities, and doesn't care to. He can mix you up a good med cocktail, but will forget all about you the minute he closes the door. He should find a new profession, and you deserve better than him.

I've been working with Dr.Nineberg for almost 2 years and he has helped me in a way that no other psychiatrist has. He's helped me find what works for me, even if he is a bit straightforward. He is not mean at all, but he is good at what he does. I highly recommend him for someone who has had trouble finding a doctor who could pinpoint the right medication mix. He is attentive and smart.

I believe that Dr. Ninenerg would benefit fron training in thr art of empathy, warmth, and genuine caring for his clients. Not everything is "by the book", and he may know the "correct" way to handle something, but is it the "right" way?
