Dr. Allan Silver, MD

This doctor showed a bad attitude during the visit, made an incorrect diagnosis, and ended up delaying the patient's treatment. I'll give 0 star if possible.

I'd never met Dr Silver before - he was the first available appointment for an emergency where I suspected I may have an STD (my first experience, disorienting for sure). He put me at ease so quickly, even in a very stressful & painful time. Once he made the diagnosis, he very calmly explained treatment and addressed all my questions, plus somehow put an uplifting vibe on things. Felt super lucky and had as positive an experience as I could have with a very tough situation.

I went to Dr. Silver for a copper IUD replacement about a year and a half ago. I was informed that a copper IUD was no longer an appropriate choice for me and the Kyleena (hormonal) IUD was locally acting and I would have a normal menstrual cycle with none of the negative impacts I had previously experienced on hormonal birth control (low libido, loss of attraction to partner, depression, poor athletic performance). Kyleena stopped my periods, and basal body temperature tracking showed that my ovulation also stopped. I lost attraction to my partner and broke up with him, and my athletic performance suffered. I also experienced pelvic pain and vulvovaginitis. I had my IUD removed and these symptoms all disappeared. I'll note he did a great job putting in the IUD painlessly and trying to calm my anxiety. However, lying to me and dealing with me in a patronizing manner has further eroded my trust in doctors and exacerbated my anxiety about medical procedures.

I went to Dr. Silver when my regular OB didn't have availability. He checked me out and sat me back and gave me a mirror and told me I had a wort!!! He took a biopsy and a few days later he called me and said, "I was right! You have warts" and told me about my options. Needless to say, when I spoke to my regular doctor, she told me that my test came back negative to HPV/warts. He read the report wrong!!! It was a just a skin abnormality and needed a steroid cream... That is a major mistake in my book! I would not recommend Dr. Silver.

I love this Doctor, but having a Mom with breast cancer and being over 50 with dense breasts, I was not offered further testing and I've spent 2 years dealing with breast cancer THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FOUND EARLIER BEFORE IT SPREAD!I'm really upset that I had to have a bilateral masectomy plus 12 months of chemo, losing my hair and dealing with the dreadful side effects of toxic chemicals!! Now I'm on tamoxifen which makes me gain weight to continue the fight against breast cancer. I feel this could have been avoided if Dr Silver would have talked to me about the DENSE BREAST diagnosis from the Polster Breast Care Center!!!
