Dr. Allan William Torkelson, MD

I worked as a RN with Dr. Torkelson a few years back. He is the best physician I've had the privilege of working with thus far in my 12 years of nursing (16 if you include the 4 years I worked as a CNA on an inpatient oncology unit). He gives every patient his total attention, he never makes them feel rushed. His demeanor and voice are very calming, which is therapeutic in itself--especially for those with a cancer diagnosis. There are so many physicians who come across as entering the patient room with their hand on the door ready to exit and move onto the next. This is not him. Above all of this he is an excellent hematologist/oncologist you can trust to prescribe the best treatment specific to you and to closely monitor you throughout your treatment and after. Dr. Torkelson is intelligent, thorough, current on the best practices, trustworthy, kind, and patient. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Torkelson he is a truly great physician and person. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Torkelson is very knowledgeable and thorough. As an Internist, Hematologist and Oncologist, he puts all of these specialities together to treat you. Only drawback is that his thoroughness with each patient usually means you will have to wait a lengthy time for your appointment, because he will be late. His scheduling staff and order writers leave room for improvement. If you are seeing him at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, WI, their lab has a tendency not to do correct or all blood work. Not Dr. Torkelsons mistake, just a high turnover in lab at Aurora.
