Dr. Allen James Orehek, MD

For a Physician for Forgetfulness I now understand how he can proudly carry that title! Even here in CT at major “healthcare” no one is doing and looking at neurodegenerative disorders how he is. If you have a problem with BRAIN FOG go see him! I was mixing up words and missing words – now im better. Thank you Dr O and your staff! Every visit I leave with a new understanding of what I need to do to better my life and keep my memory sharp! I have completed a lot of work over the last few years and the roadmap has been clear and organized. I am a professor at a major university in Connecticut and do travel to seek out the opinion and expertise from the vast clinical knowledge that Dr Allen Orehek has.

I had brain fog getting worse for a few years. It took about six months but Dr. Orehek discovered that I had a severe problem with getting oxygen while I sleep. I had to fight with my insurance and in the end a specal doc set me for testing that confirmed it. Now i use a machine at night that helps me to pick up oxygen and breethe when I stop. I am so happy I called Dr Orehek. He really does care about his patients. And fights to get them the care they need.

Dr. Orehek takes very good care of his patients. I know of a dozen people that are close to me in my life that he has either saved them from a significant medical problem or made a test that helped them to get better. More doctors should be like Dr. Orehek. He will spend the time that is needed to help people with there problems. My best friend of my whole life was saved from a stroke, my cousin who also goes to see him was saved from cancer on her back before it spread.

When you see a graduate from Thomas Jefferson Medical school you know that you will be getting some of the best care! Dr. Orehek is board certified in both internal medicine and he is also board certified in pediatrics. We went to see him because we had a complicated problem with my mother. She was in and out of the hospitals a few times and they kept saying it was her lungs - but we found out it was related to other problems. She has not been in the hospital for 15 months now!

It did not take long for us to discover that Dr Orehek was exactly what we needed for my mother. She was having memory issues and no matter where we went they would all just check her blood pressure - use a reflex hammer on her knees - make her walk a bit and then tell us that everything was normal and she was just getting older. We did spend a few visits with Dr Orehek and Erin Smith before we were able to figure out the problem. My mother had an irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrilattion. This was so dangerous for her and Dr Orehek was able to discover it. She is getting treatment now and we hope she makes improvement. I am so happy we found him, and yet I cant understand why the other doctors who have all of these large letters around their names did not check for such a common reason. I could go on and on about what we discovered. When I went back to the neurology team with the MRI images in my hands (they told us it was normal) - then showing them the same areas… that Dr OREHEK went over they started to say that perhaps my mother had some strokes!

Anyone who has problems with alzheimer's or memory problems needs to go and see Dr. Orehek. He will take the time to figure out what no other place will do. I was to philadelphia memory center and they gave no reason for the damage to my brain. I know some of the drugs i did in the past did not help it, but there was other reasons. We found that I do not get enough oxygen at night! Its amazing now how i feel. i have lost weight - because I feel so good. I can think much more clear - even thinking about writing a review a year ago would have been impossible. Now with spell check and with google I can find and give a good review for a very good doctor!

We made a mistake by taking a medicare advantage plan - it was NOT any advantage. We had so many hidden fees and restrictions. Ever time we turn around they are changing the medications on the "LIST" that they give us. Dr. Orehek and his office always help us! We save so much money each year because they will take the time to help us figure out the best way to go. At the end of this year we are getting rid of the "Disadvantage" plan.

If you are searching for a doctor with compassion, kindness, listening skills (he will really listen!). I have a cronic condition when other pc's did not listen and for that problem I suffered a burning pain for over one year, until Dr Orehek listened to me and ordered the need xray and referred me to a surgeon, he does not have an attitude of being above his patients but rather an attitude of kindness and compassion, Dr Orehek will take time looking you in the eye and listening, I will always recommend Dr Orehek as a knowledge and caring doc.

The doctor makes house calls to my uncle who can not leave his house after getting into a farming accident. My uncle is only able to stay at the house because the doctor and his nurses help out with some quipment and medications for his bad heart. I do appreciate this very much. I know he doesn't have many years left but soon he may be moving around better. Going to the office is a drive, but they do take good care of both of us either here or at the office.

I am alive because the doctor took the time to listen to my problems and look at all of my chart. I was seeing a specialist a cardiology group and they said that everything was "fine" with me - yet I was still having chest pain. Dr Orehek took the time to look at all the work that was done and then he set up testing. The results of the test showed that I having a problem from a blocked artery in my heart! We got it fixed out in NYC and now I have no more chest pain. I will forever be grateful to the Doctor and his staff for helping with all that they did. There was a lot of authorization with my insurance company and the office helped each step to the best they could. I have been back a few times and the doctor keeps a very close eye on all of my medical issues.
