Dr. Allen W Rubin, MD

I believe Dr. Rubin is an excellent, knowledgeable physician. He has always taken the time to explain my diagnosis and never made me feel as though I was asking "silly" questions. He has a wonderful assuring voice, a terrific bedside manner, which gives me confidence that I am being diagnosed and treated correctly. When he felt I needed a more detailed procedure, he did not hesitate to call me and ask me to see the other doctor. My personal internist (who is known as the "medicine man's, medicine man"-meaning he is a physician to many doctors) sent me to Dr. Rubin because he felt he was the best doctor for my condition. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Rubin. His staff has always been very pleasant and his medical assistant, Shauna, has always be so kind and if she does not know the answer, she does not hesitate to ask Dr. Rubin.

Dr. Allen Rubin has been very helpful overall for the diagnosis and treatment of UC. I had difficult symptoms for quite some time before my primary care physician recommended Dr. Rubin. Took a few visits, but diagnosis made and Dr. Rubin spent a half hour on the phone with me on a Sunday explaining the disease and options for care. Some of the staff handling paperwork could use some training on interpersonal skills and timeliness, but the Dr. and Nurse are wonderful.

He has great bedside manner. Dr. Rubin really listened when I described my problems, he's very thorough and informative when explaining treatment. I've been coming to him for my stomach pains for two years now. One thing I like about him is he's not one of those "I'm always right" kind of doctors. When my symptoms changed, he wasn't too proud to change his diagnosis. The staff is usually very busy, so it's not like they're inattentive or impatient, just that they have a lot of work to handle.

I went to see Dr. Rubin 3-4 times for a mystery stomach problem. After prescribing me a medication I told him I had taken before, I came back to the office a couple weeks later and told him that it didn't help and in fact gave me worse symptoms that I had had previously. He told me to stick to it for another couple weeks and then saw me again. I told him it was still bad. He said "I remember you saying that last time but I didn't believe you."He then had a scope done on me. The result was something that now that I have seen another doctor should have led to an obvious conclusion, but he just looked at the results and said, "hmm, weird" and out of nowhere told me I needed to have my gall bladder removed because I was approaching child-bearing age (even though I wasn't planning to have kids). When I went to the gall bladder surgeon I was told Dr. Rubin was nuts to request I have it removed with 0 pain.I will grant that my condition (now that we know what it is) is a rare one, but I feel… like he did 0 research into the problem even after ultrasounds and scopes and didn't listen to my problem before just trying to fix it.

I finally got insurance and was able to see a great doctor for my crohn's. He has great bedside manner and seems to really care about his patients. I love his nurse Melanie. She is also a very caring person. I did not have to wait more than 10 minutes to see Dr. Rubin and I have been to his office over 15 times. I also was a walk-in and was seen within 20 minutes which was wonderful if you are not feeling good. Try him and I think you will like him and his staff too.
