I would like to express my personal thanks and appreciativeness to Ophthalmic Consultants of the Capital Region (Clifton Park and Troy Offices) for their outstanding efforts associated with my diagnosis, pre-surgical preparation, actual surgical execution and post-surgical care associated with my cataract surgery on 24 JANUARY 2023 that involved the placement of a Light Adjustment Lens (LAL). Commencing with Dr. Allen Zieker’s diagnosis and precision surgical execution, to post-op care to include eye (LAL) adjustment and refinement that at the conclusion, far exceeded my expectations and restored both my near and far field vision. Dr. Heather Deere, Megan D. and Meghan L. were unequivocally exceptional! Their professional support, personal care, answering all questions to my satisfaction, were in my opinion, superior! Without a doubt and with no hesitation, when timing is appropriate for cataract surgery on my other eye, I would follow the same approach with a LAL and would only… use Ophthalmic Consultants of the Capital Region to perform the surgery.

Dr. Zieker is a brilliant, dedicated and skilled surgeon. He specializes in the latest treatments and technologies. He was thorough when explaining my diagnosis, prognosis and treatment options. He was helpful when I was making my decision; there was no pressure. Cataracts were removed and Symfony IOLs were implanted in both eyes. No pain and no complications. I was "illegal to drive" (DMV) and now I have 20/20 vision. I am forever grateful to Dr. Zieker and his staff at Ophthalmic Consultants of the Capital Region and the Albany Regional Eye Surgery Center. You can trust him to take excellent care of your eyes. I have been seen by Drs. Allen Zieker, Robert Feldman, Andrew Krouner, Heather Deere, & Steven Lobel at Ophthalmic Consultants of the Capital Region over the years. They have provided excellent care. Don't concern yourself with waiting times if your eyes are precious to you.

I want to thank Dr. Allan Zieker for his excellent work. Had an eye surgery (cataracts) in both eyes. And now after 45 years my eye side distance is perfect only need glasses for reading. ????????????????

I had cataract surgery by Dr. Allan Zieker,the man knows his business,to my amazement I have 20/20 vision after wearing glasses for 60 years,and my vision was 20/400 my whole life.My only regret is not getting Symphony lenses to correct far and near.

Having PRK (Lasik) corrective surgery with Dr. Allen Zieker at Ophthalmic Consultants of the Capital Region was one of the best choices I have ever made. My vision before surgery was terrible (-7.00 and then some) and I could not see anything but blurry colors without glasses. I can now see perfectly, 20/15, with no glasses or contacts. I had an amazing experience with Dr. Zieker and his staff at the offices I went to and the Albany Surgical Center where the operation was done. The process was simple and worth every penny. If you're considering Lasik I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Zieker and Ophthalmic Consultants. I had complete faith in the skills of the team that assisted me and I could not be happier. In case you are considering corrective surgery and don't know what it entails... here's a recap of how the process went: There were a few steps to make sure I was a good candidate. There is a lot of testing done to make sure the best results will be achieved. -Meet with a technician for… a "mini-evaluation". They tested my corneal thickness and tear flow which are both very important for this surgery. -Get a full eye exam to confirm I didn't have any major prescription changes and my eyes were healthy, this essentially gave me a referral from Optometrist Dr. Ebbing to Dr. Zieker for my surgery consultation. Dr. Ebbing was fantastic! This was the most thorough exam I have ever had. Previously I have had very short exams (elsewhere) and this was totally different. This was a very professional and informative exam that I really appreciated. -Surgery consultation with Dr. Zieker; this included topographical measurements of my eye. We reviewed my test results, how my current eye health would relate to the surgery results and expectations for the next steps. Some additional measurements were done at the surgery center. They were quick and all testing was painless. -I was scheduled for surgery on a date that was convenient for me. The time was determined by the surgical center and I was called the day before to tell me when to arrive. My right and left eye were done separately to ensure the best healing and overall results. At the surgical center I was brought back to an exam room and drops were inserted into my eyes to numb them. I was given medication to keep me calm and relaxed. Dr. Zieker greeted me and we quickly reviewed the procedure and I was brought into the surgery room. The whole procedure must have taken about 15 minutes but it feels like I was in and out in two. Dr. Zieker spoke to me through the whole procedure, coaching me through what was happening. Megan Dow, who works with Dr. Zieker to prepare all his surgery patients, had described the surgery from her own experience to me. She described it as briefly seeing a bright light, just black, then a milky light, and then as though Dr. Zieker were painting her vision back in. This is exactly how I remember it and it was beautiful. I was not nervous at all during the procedure. In a few minutes I went from seeing nothing to being able to see across the room. I was brought back to the exam room when the procedure was completed to review instructions for the eye drops I needed to heal. He also inserted a contact lens to protect my eye which I wore for about a week. I saw Dr. Zieker the next day and the following week to check the results. I did need some steroids to help the healing process and put lubricating drops in around every half hour for a few days. After a while he switched me to drops every two hours. The continuity of care was fantastic. Everything healed as expected and now I have this amazing perfect vision.

Dr. Zieker is a fabulous doctor. He was recommended to me by my sister-in-law and I am so glad she did. My vision was getting pretty bad and he diagnosed me to have cataracts. I went in for the surgery and my vision has never been better. Why did I wait so long?

Dr. Zieker is a very good cataract surgeon. He spends the time explaining the surgery and answering all my questions. I see better now than I did 20 years ago.
