Hi my name is Carlene I’m 64 years young and I live in Orlando, Florida. I am married with two adult sons. I knew Dr. Allison Haughton-Green at the Orlando Institute of Weight Management and Metabolic Medicine through friends and I knew of her expertise in weight management. The Orlando Institute of Weight Management and Metabolic Medicine is a concierge functional medicine practice focused on weight management and disease prevention. I started Silver Metabolic program a year ago, which focuses on education and accountability, with no prescription medications including GLP- meds. When I first started the program the evaluation was very thorough. During the first visit, Dr. Green did a complete physical exam, EKG, and ordered bloodwork. She measured my weight percent body fat that’s right mass and blood pressure. She screened me for sleep apnea by measuring my next circumference and she also measured my abdominal circumference. At first I was very resistant to having her blood work… done after seeing the PCP. Dr. Green encouraged me to have the labs done anyway because she really needed the current data to be able to write a metabolic program just for me.During the weekly visits she does a weekly weigh in, blood pressure, and accountability. I needed some drastic solutions for my weight gain and management of my(at the time) pre diabetes. Before I came I wasn’t feeling good. I felt out of breath. I was buying clothing a size or two bigger and it was getting expensive. People on the service wouldn’t view me as physically unfit but I reached a point where I wasn’t feeling like myself. Dr. Allison Haughton-Green taught me that I have a genetic condition called INSULIN RESISTANCE, which was why it was hard for me to lose weight. Personally even an extra 10 pounds is significant so when I gained 20 of visceral fat pounds I knew I needed to seek some help because I didn’t feel like myself usual self.When I started I felt hopeful because I had seen very positive reviews from past patients. The first week I struggled with changing the way I approached food because I had been so used to eating a certain way that was hurting my body. 9 weeks into the program I’m felt so much better.
