Dr. Kuo explained why I can read the eye chart yet expect I won't be able to because my vision is deteriorating due to macular degeneration. Also why I can see single familiar things better than unfamiliar things in crowded surroundings. She helped me to understand my challenges.

I really appreciate the way Dr. Kuo explained things to me. She explained complicated medical concerns in a very easy to understand way, and it really helped me to better understand my situation. She also presented treatment options in a very goal concordant way, and she really made me feel like my values were being taken into consideration when determining a care plan.

Words cannot describe the beautiful and supportive presence of professionalism and empathy that Dr. Kuo shared during an extremely painful, frustrating, and helpless day, after being brushed off by my primary care provider. Her ability to explain her clinical reasoning in a concise and at an appropriate health literacy level while also understanding the limitations of her scope of practice was so comforting and allowed me to breathe when experiencing 11/10 pain. Dr. Kuo embodies what healthcare providers should strive to be.
