Dr. Allyson I. Jones, MD, FACOG

After several conversations during every prenatal appointment I was told by Dr. Jones that she supported unmedicated births. She does not. She loves to put you on pitocin as soon as possible to speed things up. If you show up with a birth plan, expect nurses and other doctors to make negative comments about it. She wanted to put me on pitocin after I gave birth even though my uterus was contracting beautifully. The worst part of the entire experience is she cut me three separate times during my episiotomy. Straight down and both sides. I was absolutely mutilated. It took me months to heal. I still don’t think I’m healed after 15 months. I consented to an episiotomy not a mutilation. My husband witnessed the entire thing. I would not recommend her to anyone hoping for an unmedicated birth or even a vaginal delivery. Especially first time moms.

She was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. However, I was just in for my annual and all she talked about was how I should get an IUD. I don't need birth control (husband had a vasectomy)and my periods are manageable. I didn't appreciate the sales pitch on having an unnecessary procedure on "how to get my life back." My life is fine... I would have appreciated her asking questions that actually pertain to my life at this stage-- middle age...

I had a traumatizing experience with my C-section. I wasn't progressing in labor, so was talked into having a C-section. After she was complete she was going to send me on my way but a nurse pointed out that I was still bleeding. I lost a lot of blood and was afraid I was going to die. My mother said when they brought me back I was blue. The scary part is in my hospital records there is no indication of the hemorrhaging I suffered. It says complications: none. I was hoping to know the name of the tool they used to help heal me. It's not in my records. I was hoping to find out what caused the hemorrhaging. In my records it looks like I had a great C-section.

When I was 51, she said I had to go on a no estrogen birth control pill. I started bleeding, sometimes with clots, 3 weeks out of every month. When I called to ask about this, she refused to speak to me and told the nurse to tell me that there would be breakthrough bleeding. I switched to another gynecologist at a different location who took a blood sample and said I didn't need to be on a birth control pill at all because I was in menopause. This was a simple procedure that Dr. Jones should have done at my age. I continued bleeding too many weeks out of a month, and my new OBGYN said I should get an ablation. I did, and it has stopped the bleeding. Dr. Jones refused to speak to me about my concerns, and didn't schedule another appointment to talk about all of the alternatives to rectify my problems.

I had been in labor for almost 2 hours and was about 5cm when Dr. Jones told me my baby was in distress and I needed a c-section right away. I was watching the monitor and the baby looked fine. Dr. Jones yelled at me when I questioned her and told me we didn't have time to argue. So I consented thinking it was an emergency. Dr. Jones rushed out of the room saying she's see me in the ER. A nurse came in and started unhooking things to roll me out. I asked her if my baby was in distress. She looked at the print out for a moment and told me no. I told her what Dr. Jones said and she had a look on her face as if this was a common problem. She whispered to me that I could refuse anything. I was very scared and confused. I just aid there until they rolled me into the ER and did the C-section. Everything went ok but I was still confused. I asked to speak to Dr. Jones in recovery but was told she had gone home. I never got an explaination for why the nurses and my medical records say that… everything was fine, but Dr. Jones says the baby was in danger. The first time I was able to ask Dr. Jones was at my check up. She insisted that she had saved my baby. I'm now 8 months pregnant and seeing another doctor. We got my medical records at my 3rd prenatal and I was shocked when my new doctor told me that my records list my "emergency c-section" as elective. I contacted Dr. Jones office several times for an explaination but it's become clear that she is refusing to return my calls.

I wish I could go back and switch doctors. I feel my C-section was due to Dr. jones lack of patience. She seemed angry that I hadn't delivered after only a few hours and said I needed one. I think she lied because there was nothing wrong with me or the baby. I won't see her again if I get pregnant in the future.

Dr Jones does not give her patients the necessary time to provide good medical care. She and her staff are not attentive to the needs of the patient. Find another physician/practice if you want thorough medical attention.

Horrible bedside manner. Started pitocin on highest dose even though I had normal contractions. I went from 3cm to 9cm in 4 hours. She told me I wasn't making enough progress and ordered a c-section at 9cm! When I argued that I didn't think it was needed, she put medication in my IV without my consent, to stop contractions, and told me she would call CPS because I was refusing to cooperate with her medical advice. After 4 normal births I ended up having my first c-section. My medical records show it as "elective"...even though she forced me into it. Dr. Jones shouldn't be working as an OBGYN, I wouldn't advise anyone to see her.

I had problems with previous OB's. I actually left the practice I was with to follow Dr. jones when she went to Lexington. She delivered both of my babies, she is always caring and heartfelt, and knows her stuff. Her bedside manner is very professional but comforting. My husband wishes she could treat me for everything!
