Dr. Almerindo G Portfolio, MD

Dr. Portfolio did my cataracts and I never had a bit of discomfort or anxiety. He is extremely patient, addressing all my concerns with a wonderful bedside manner. He has a great support team. His office assistant, Lauren, was always available for questions, medication issues, etc. His team at the surgical center was very professional and reassuring which made the entire process very easy. I would highly recommend Dr. Portfolio to anyone considering cataract surgery!

Dr Portfolio as well as his staff, are Professional as well as pragmatic. Extremely helpful and the medical care is superior.

I have now had 2 cataract surgeries done by Dr. Portfolio. He explained things very clearly both before and after the procedure, even sketching a picture of what he would be doing. The surgery went beautifully, no discomfort at all. He is very professional and has a gentle and reassuring manner. I had been seeing an optometrist prior to the surgery but will now change all my eye care to Dr. Portfolio. I read the review about the office staff. That is the complete opposite of my experience. Everyone I met was professional and helpful.

I am 88 years old had an eye infection and I went to see Dr. Portfolio. My daughter asked if my problem was covered under my medicare and supplemental insurance and the staff assured me that it was. What they didn't happen to mention was that during the course of the exam an eye test (refraction) might be given and one was indeed done, without letting me know that that portion of the visit would not be covered and obtaining permission to have it done. I was charged $99.11 for it. I have no vision problems am on a fixed income and would never have consented to this test if I knew I would have had to cover it myself. It would have been proper for the office to point out that that test was not going to be covered and to obtain permission and let me make an informed decision. To the contrary they were very reassuring that the problem would be covered. When my daughter discussed it on the phone today with a member of staff, the staff member raised her voice to talk over her in an… unprofessional manner. I heard it all across the room. I can't imagine why a medical office worker would become aggressive over a miscommunication unless this was a pattern. Based on her reaction I am doubting this was an innocent miscommunication, I think it is an office strategy to gain more revenue. Dealing with this office has left me pretty shaken up and there is no reason for such a thing with a medical provider.

Like his father dr portfolio combines expertise and compassion. He is a wonderful doctor.
