I was doing well on my prescribed medication, and my therapist decided to take me off it based on her personal beliefs about potential pregnancy risks. At no point did she consider my actual situation—I was single and not planning to become pregnant. This decision directly impacted my mental health and left me feeling unsafe and unsupported. Her approach consistently prioritized her own views over my well-being. I would not recommend her to anyone seeking competent, ethical mental health care.

I saw Alta Langdon about five years ago during one of the most vulnerable periods of my life. Since then I’ve worked with several psychiatrists and mental health providers, most of whom were thoughtful, careful clinicians. That contrast has only made this experience stand out more over time. Looking back now, the care I received here involved deeply questionable clinical judgment and ultimately left me worse than when I first sought help. Nearly five years later, it still stands out as the only mental health care experience I truly regret. When someone seeks psychiatric care during a crisis, they are placing a great deal of trust in the person treating them. Unfortunately, that trust was misplaced in my case.
