Dr. Althea Elaine Massenburg, MD

Dr. Massenburg joined Lakewood in 2001. She is a native of New York who graduated Cum Laude from Harvard University with a concentration in Psychology. Her family hails from Jamaica and Barbados, West Indies. She recieved her MD from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1996 and completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. While in residency she also began a Masters in Public Health. Dr. Massenburg is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is board eligible in Pediatrics. She is also a member of the American College of Physicians. She enjoys caring for all ages and has a special interest in treating women's health and diabetes. She is married to Larry who is a North Carolina native and has two children; Grayson and Nola. She is active in her church and in her free time she enjoys trail walks, cooking and party planning.
