Dr. Alton Benton Hankins, MD

Has been my doctor for many many years and is a wonderful doctor and human being. Takes his time with you and does everything he can to help you. Highly recommend.

Dr. Hankins has been my psychiatrist for eight years this month. He was there through the loss of my little brother, my divorce, and the birth of both my children. That does not include being there for me as more than a Dr, but a friend and mentor during my Uncle and Mother's multiple diagnosis, including my every day troubles. I suffer from severe anxiety, insomnia, as well as having ADHD at 28 years of age. When my brother passed away he spoke to me on the phone personally and talked me through some of the worst times in my life. I consider him someone very important to my health, and quality of living, not to mention a friend. If I have any choice in the matter, I will never change Doctors, no matter what the circumstances. I currently drive 5 hours every three months to see him. Too end this, in short I'll say he's a blessing and the best doctor I've ever had.

Though I was very hesitant about seeing a psychiatrist, it was the best decision I ever made - especially finding such an excellent physician. Dr. Hankins is everything that you would want, and should expect, your doctor to be: knowledgeable in his field, understanding and caring, and providing you with the best care.

Great doctor. Understood me more than I understood myself. Life makes sense now and I can say this doctor not only changed my life, in a good way, but has done so to a couple of other people I know.

The initial appointment takes awhile to schedule because of the amount of time Dr. Hankins spends with you, but followups are not a problem. He makes everything easy to understand...great doctor!

I have been to many PHD, MD, doctors. All of my doctors agreed with his findings. I released my records to each after my initial evaluations. This doctor knows what he is talking about and he stays current with all new materials.

The only negative is that it takes about 3 months for your initial appoinment, which speaks to how popular this man is with his patients. After that, your appointments are prescheduled before you leave the office. Dr. Hankins spends time not only learning about you, but he explains the way your brain works and how the medications will remedy the problem. He provides up to date literature and studies and explains them thoroughly to me. He just makes it all MAKE SENSE. I feel better than I have since I was a kid. More energy and happier than ever!!

I was diagnosed with adult ADHD and am taking meds....life is so much easier now that I can focus and get something accomplished instead of doing a little bit of a whole lot of things and finishing nothing. Dr. Hankins spent a lot of time with me going over symptoms and how to deal with them. Wish I had found him sooner.
