Dr. Alvin Clark Holm, MD

Dr Holm is my twin sister’s doctor treating her Alzheimer’s Disease. He has a wonderful bedside manner and successfully informed us about her issues in terms that those of us with no medical background could understand. A great balance of professionalism and empathy. Very rare . Thanks Dr Holm

Love Dr. Holm, he sat with my mother, sister and me and explained what was happening to her and what to expect. He was also very respectful of my mother. A #1 doctor in my eyes.

Dr. Holm treated my mother who had already been in memory care for Alzheimers. Our family reached a turning point when the care center's geriatric doctor wanted to put our mother on strong, antipsychotic drugs. We were against this as it seemed they wanted to make her more compliant. Long story short, Dr. Holm admitted my mother inpatient for 3 weeks and dialed all her medications way back. She's done great ever since. Needless to say, we moved her out of the care center into a new memory care center whose philosophy is structure and understanding -- not medicating the wits out of their residents. Dr. Holm stayed out of the politics of all that, but we will forever be grateful to him for taking the time to evaluate our mother. One of the best parts of our experience was that after he evaluated our mom, he was the first to admit, she didn't end up having what he initially thought she did. To us, it showed he had a very open mind and his focus wasn't on being right, it was on… getting her right. He's a rare specialist that we are very fortunate to have in Minnesota.

Dr. Holm when first meets a patient, is very focused, interested, takes his time, talks to family when needed. Very knowledgeable, and pleasant to patient. Now that he has so much going on or to many patients, he has less time to look at chart in clinicals and answer families questions and looking at the chart to figure it out.. I still recommend him to others to help with diagnosis as he is very knowledgeable and focused to figure out the right dementia diagnosis, and knows medicine and how to administer it. We have always appreciated him, even though his time is limited more as the years go by, but will NEVER forget his dedication to our family member, in which he saved his life... And we get to have his presence a few more years.. Concerns with medicines in long term use as not working and need to be looked into further atleast try to figure if anything else can be done, only a laymens point of view.... Thank You Dr. Holm.~!
