Dr. Alyce 0 Belonis, MD

We went to see dr Belonis as a second opinion because she has a rare genetic syndrome. Our first appointment with Dr. Belonis was her pretty much telling me I was stupid for driving out to Ohio instead of just going to Riley Hospital. We were at Riley Hospital for the past four years, and they could not give us any information. We always provided (Riley) hospital with information that we had, but nothing was reciprocated back to us. So we were told by several people to go to children Cincinnati. Dr. Belonis could not provide us with any information, and did not seem to know whole lot about my daughters disorder. But she didn’t know that we should just stay at (Riley) and we were dumb for driving out to Ohio. The assistant that was in The room with her provided us with a lot more information then she could. Our second trip to see Dr Belonis, Again I had to argue with her why I wanted to be at children’s instead of (Riley). I will never go back to see Dr. Belonis

I saw Dr. Belonis for my daughter who was born missing 3 fingers. I was looking for general guidance on how to help my daughter, if she'd need surgeries, if there were things wrong besides her hand(such as heart issues which I guess can be common with this kind of genetic disorder), is this even genetic or just a fluke (in case we have more children), etc. All she could keep saying is 'im not sure what you are expecting out of this appointment. She is fine just the way she is.". None of my questions were answered. And she made me feel like a bad mother for coming there to find out how I can help my daughter thrive. after she did the physical exam I asked her about my daughter's heart and she actually said "oh I forgot to check that...I can if you want me to". I honestly have no idea how she is a doctor. I still have no answers for my daughter or myself and I don't even want to go back there to get those answers in case I have to just see her again.
