Summary
I always wanted to work in health care, and when I discovered the specific path of becoming a nurse practitioner, I knew that was what I was meant to do in life. I feel at home and proud to work here at University of Vermont Health, having also received my nursing and advanced nursing education here. I started my career here as a licensed nursing assistant in the surgical and pediatric ICU, where I gained experiences that informed who I am as a provider today. I also worked at University of Vermont Medical Center as a registered nurse during my doctoral program at the UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences and completed clinical rotations within UVM Health.During my undergraduate studies at UVM, majoring in Neuroscience, I completed a research project that sought to demonstrate activation of both the central nucleus of the amygdala and the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis in the form of fear conditioning of mice. Later, during my doctoral program at UVM, I helped create …and implement a protocol for managing and prescribing ADHD medication at a local college.More importantly, my care philosophy centers around the idea that I strive to treat each patient the way I hope my family members would be treated — with respect, empathy and understanding. I really enjoy getting to know my patients and coming up with solutions that meet them where they are and address what is most important to them.
