I feel the need to share my experience to highlight how certain assumptions and misjudgments can have serious effects on a person’s life and relationships. Not long ago, a professional in the healthcare field made an assessment of me without ever meeting me, which severely impacted my personal life. Their words led to misunderstandings in my relationship, causing my partner to question my intentions and character. This experience left me feeling misunderstood and mentally drained, as I was fighting to defend my actions and intentions. While I have made mistakes in my past, I have worked tirelessly to make positive changes and take responsibility for my actions. Some of the steps I’ve taken include: • I committed to a lengthy recovery program, staying in a treatment setting for an extended period and planning to remain longer, but returned early at my partner’s request. • I dedicated years to supporting my partner in various ways, from daily tasks to helping him find stable… employment. • I worked diligently to gain the necessary training to support others who are also on the path to recovery, continuing to develop my skills in this area. Despite my efforts to rebuild my life and prove my dedication to change, I was unfairly judged by someone who never took the time to get to know me. These assumptions caused damage that was hard to repair, making it difficult to prove who I am now. To professionals in healthcare: Please remember the impact your words can have. The responsibility you hold in your role is significant, and I encourage you to approach each person with an open mind, free from judgment based on past mistakes. Treat people with the respect they deserve, and understand the consequences of your actions. To anyone going through a similar experience: Know that you are not defined by someone else’s opinions. The progress you’ve made is real, and your journey is yours to claim. Keep moving forward, and never let someone else’s view of you overshadow your truth.

She claimed I was a narcissist and that I gave him PTSD. And that he should not be with be based on my past. I gave him drug test when ever he wanted to prove I was sincere. Somehow she talked him into assuming I was cheating without proof or anything. What kind of a therapist call someone especially this term that gets slung around way too often. I have lots of experience in SUD counseling and I’m taking mental health assistant courses. My ex fiancé now is very anxious and codependent. We are on each other however, she told him that I was showing signs of doing drugs and cheeting. I’ve always been honest about everything that I do. As soon as I can be as much as I can be. It’s not fair you should’ve gotten to know me. And ever since I told him that I applied for one of y’all’s entry-level positions That I totally qualify for I haven’t heard from them. Has she suggested a couple session to let me get my side out? I wouldn’t have felt so cheated. He hung on her every word and I didn’t… stand a chance. He wouldn’t believe anything. I said thanks I appreciate ya.

She gave my fiancé std medication saying that I was a druggie and promiscuous. He said she gave it to him just in case and I’m worried because what if he really did have a disease I’m going to get checked tomorrow.
