Dr. Amanda Kay Cummins, DO

I saw her when she was in Clarksville. Doctors are hard to get into in Clarksville. When she saw me I already knew I had type 2 and was uncontrolled 200-400 fluctuating readings due to not having insurance for a long time. I told her my previous dr's had given me metformin and gluberide and I had been controlled. She told me that she would be prescribing me at the starting gate lantus 5 units, metformin 1000 and 40 atorvastin. I told her I wasn't comfortable taking the lantus. she told me i can take it or go find another doctor because that was standard issue for type 2. the medication was way too much for my system. i was so sick i couldn't move or work for days. i had to slowly work up to the dosage of metformin and the atorvastin gave me major leg cramps. the medications weren't working, which i took religiously. Every time i saw her she would raise the lantus. Then at the last visit I get told she's closing down her practice and refers me to another dr. While I really don't have… much to say here about the other dr, I will say the best thing that dr did was send me to an endocrinologist. In ONE VISIT!!!!!! without any testing, without any previous test information, after he read then intake information on medications and my meter readings, he takes ONE look at me and tells me he knows whats wrong with me. I HAD AND STILL HAVE PERFECT INSULIN PRODUCTION!!!! PERFECT!!!!! Did not need, never needed insulin!!!! He changed my metformin and took me off the lantus. HE ALSO listened to me on the atorvastin and lowered that as well on the first visit. I had severe insulin resistance THAT WAS MY PROBLEM. AND HE TOLD ME THAT WAS MY PROBLEM BEFORE ANY TESTING. But he did take a blood test. Mind you I take medication religiously, the dr she referred me to did nothing but refill what she prescribed and send me to the endo, my morning sugar at that first visit was 279 fasting thats with the 30 units lantus, 1000 metformin and 40 atorvastin. that night it was at 321. I started the new meds that night, I woke up at 185!!!!!! and it has only gotten better. And at my second visit to him which was 30 days later my A1C went from OVER a 10 to a 7. Its been 3 months now and I am waiting for my next A1C but seeing that ALL my readings since the last visit have been around 90s...well I think its safe to say I should be lower than a seven but I will see when the results are in. No more lantus and since the atorvastin has been lowered no more leg cramps. Oh and a side note I probably won't be needing the atorvastin much longer either since my cholesterol is now lowing too. IT JUST BURNS ME UP!!! ALL THAT MONEY SPEND ON SHOTS I DIDN'T NEED OR WANT. JUST BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T LISTEN OR CARE, JUST WHAT EVER IS THE STATUS QUO TO TREAT A PERSON. I really wish she was still in town to tell her to her face, but then I am glad she left. We don't need doctors like her here and if i didn't get transferred to the new doctor i would have never gotten that heaven sent referral to the endo. OH not only is my sugar stabilizing, my cholesterol is normalizing, and with a few lifestyle changes that the ENDO suggested, I AM NOW ALSO 40 LBS LIGHTER AND STILL LOSING. I am saddened at the fact that he is retiring because in the THREE visits to him he has made me a happier, healthier and more informed person and I WILL continue with everything he has taught me. Which is very sad on AMANDA'S part due to she had me longer and did nothing for me.

I was looking for a PCP and Dr. Cummins was recommended. After 3 others I set up an appointment with her and felt very comfortable with her. She was extremely friendly and actually listened, then treated me with language I could understand. She was great in wanting a follow up. She wants me to call for anything I need to make an appointment. It was quick and easy to get an appointment. Her staff is also great. The return calls are quick and they want to know how I'm doing and if there's anything else. I definitely will recommend her.

Worst person, doesn't care about patients, BAD BAD BAD!!! DO NOT GO!!!!!

Amazing provider. Very knowledgeable and compassionate. Was highly recommended by medical personnel. A blessing to have as a provider

All I can say is that I am lucky to have found her! She is simply amazing. I had been searching for a doctor that I felt honestly cared. She is not judgmental about my feelings and actually believes you when you tell her something is wrong and tried to fix it the first time you mention it! She is God sent!
