Dr. Amanda A. Gosman, MD

This doctor is beyond incompetent and has the worst staff. They made me sick and disfigured me.

I said that did not make sense as they can have the Covid -19 test before surgery. Sadly she clearly does not care if one lives or dies. I am deathly sick, Covid- 19 negative and she did the same thing to me, and she blamed it on the pandemic, she is not performing life saving surgery. While inventing an invalid excuse with the Covid-19 test readily available, people are dying. She knows she gets paid either way. She gives lame referrals to get out of doing her job that cannot cure the patient, her intelligence level is very questionable, as she talks her way out of doing her job. Her video is an acting job, she does the opposite of what she proclaims in the video. Her conversation is highly unintelligent and an intelligent person will see right through it quickly.

Dr.Gosman,is the best.I had a reconstructed stomach do to hernias.Within a month I was walking and driving.What a caring dr. Thanks again for my surgery .

Her arrogance & ineptitude forced me to wait over 3 hours MULTIPLE TIMES for scheduled clinic appointments - is ANY doctor worth that kind of wasted time? NO! She thinks she walks on water, but trust me - she is NOT worth it! In fact, I had an infection that she "missed" that resulted in 6 days of IV treatment as an inpatient & resulted in an open wound that required an additional surgery that I definitely had a DIFFERENT surgeon handle. STAY AWAY from Amanda Gosman at all costs - she is one of the WORST doctors I have ever encountered! The "awards" she receives are from other ego-centric doctors that ALSO force patients to wait forever & who also could care less about your time and/or outcomes. Try Scripss, Grossmont, or Kaiser - anyone is better than UCSD Plastic Surgery - just read the reviews!!!

Consistently an hour to 2 hours late for appointments, just to spend 2 minutes in the room with you. The most time I got with her was finally unloading on her the terrible treatment I'd received for the past year and a half. They add things to your chart that aren't discussed, I've had people at the office tell me different things regarding my surgery and after care, and even had a nurse open the door to leave while I was still undresses in the middle of the room. On top of that my concerns were repeatedly ignored and questions remained unanswered. I wish I hadn't had my surgery here, results were not great, so I hadn't had to deal with her for follow up for the next year. Should have found a better surgeon.

Amanda Gosman came highly rated, but through my experience several red flags were drawn. I requested an appt before my surgical date, and at the last minute it was cancelled, I was forced to move my surgical date. I was to have an open septoplasty (rhinoplasty). Feb 10, 2017 the day of my surgery I showed up to UCSD medical center, on edge because I had very little information about the procedure, and was quite worried of the outcome. Not only did she not show up before I was taken back, but I was left on edge. Fast forward to getting out of surgery. Woke up in Post-op, in massive pain (to be expected) was told they were going to give me morphine for pain (I am HIGHLY allergic, Gosman ordered morphine for my rescue dose pain medication, her name is on the chart as ordering physician) Get discharged after 24 hours. Go home and have a "pop" sensation, followed by a massive headache that will not go away. Cannot stand up without feeling like my head was going to combust, and… go in for an urgent appointment. Amanda Gosman proceeded to tell me that my symptoms were 100% psycho-somatic and I should take some valium, which she was happy to prescribe. Not happy with this answer, I go to my PCP, where she is in full belief that I have a cerebral-spinal fluid leak. I get an urgent referral for a same day appt to ENT(in another health care system). I was given a CT Angiogram with Spinal Contrast, and my olfactory foramina light up. Boom, cerebral-spinal fluid leak. So not only did she cause further damage to what the procedure was, I am to this day experiencing now other side effects from the procedure. 1. I was given a silicone nasal graft. It has migrated to my right nostril. I am having a surgery to remove it, and to be replaced with rib/ear cartilage, by my expert ENT. 2. She did something to my septum that required her to put in artificial materials in to "patch" my septum, require extraction from my ENT. 3. She didn't fix my deviated septum, she only made it look "prettier". I was hit in the face with a softball, and broke my nose and my left eye socket. My 1 request was to be able to breathe better and have my nose intact, the way it was before my break. My wish was 100% ignored as my ENT is now fixing the deformity. Thank god for my ENT, and his bedside manner. He saved this experience and is the only reason I didn't sue her. She should be thankful I didn't sue, because all of my medical records backed up the negligence she caused. If you break your nose, and you get a referral to UCSD Plastic Surgery, make sure to get that referral switched to UCSD ENT or my favorite Scripps ENT.

Dr. Gosman performed the placement of tissue expanders immediately after I had double mastectomies (same surgery). Based on the interactions Iâ??ve had with her and the quality of her work, I would highly discourage others from using her for breast reconstruction. I had no problems with or hesitations about her after my first consultation, but things changed when my surgery happened. I was told she was going to come see me before my procedure and â??mark me upâ?? so I knew what to expect, but that didnâ??t happen, I never even saw her on the day of my surgery. I had one plastics post-op check while in the hospital done by a male resident Iâ??d never met, and all office visits and tissue expansions were done by her PAs. The next time I saw her was 5 months later to discuss my next and final surgery to replace the expanders with implants. She was running 45 minutes late and then only spent 8 minutes with me. I was not happy with the position of my expanders and when I expressed my… concerns to her, she brushed them off and told me she could make some slight adjustments during the next surgery. I left the appointment not knowing what size or profile of implant would be used and feeling very doubtful that I would be happy with the results if she performed the surgery. I decided to seek a second opinion and ended up having my tissue expanders redone. While Dr. Gosman was never outright rude to me and did no irreversible damage, my case was not complicated yet I had to go through an additional surgery. For such a significant procedure on a private body part, I have come to expect a much higher level of compassion and quality of work than Dr. Gosman provided.

Dr.Gosman did a beautiful job with my son's cleft lip and palate. She is also well know amongst many other doctors and nurses. When anyone asks who performed my son's surgery and I say, "Dr. Gosman" they reply with, "She does great work." We did the lip surgery when my son was 4 mos. old a few weeks before Christmas. It was a great present for my family and I because he was completely healed by Dec. 25. We had the palate repair when he was 10 mos. old and we actually just had her post operation appoinmen this morning. My son was back to talking, clapping, playing just two days after palete surgery. Staff were great at the crest start location and at Rady's children's. The scheduling of the operations was a bit last minute but once I realized how many children are having operations on the same day, I can now understand how anything can change at any moment and I appreciate how the office did keep me informed of any changes. My sons has minimal scars and people can't tell he had any… sort of a bilateral cleft lip. We were offered the nam option, and tried it but my son refused to keep it in. The results were still great. Thank you Dr. Gosman for changing my son and my family's lives forever. God Bless You.

She is amazing. I know my son is in good hands with her . I trust her 100%.and trusting her with my son puts my mind at ease and makes the process that we are going through with her that much easier

Dr. Gosman is an amazing Dr. She did my daughters lip and palate repair, she did such an amazing job. When people find out that our daughter had a cleft lip/palate they cant believe it, there is barely a scar. I tell everyone that our daughter had an wonderful surgeon. I have met other parents with children who have cleft lip/palate and also had Dr. Gosman as their childs surgeon. We talk about how wonderful she is.
