Dr. Amanda G Hoover

This lady is the most unethical, careless woman I have ever met. And I hope TO GOD she isn’t still practicing after her lawsuit in 2017. I cannot get into depth on my situation with her but PLEASE SEEK ANY OTHER DENTIST. SHE WILL PREFORM UNNEEDED TREAT AND SHE WILL DO IT HORRIBLY. I’m not even sure how she managed to graduate dental school, I have heard too many horror stories about her and her husband whom is/was her office manger. They are liars and theifs and I hope she gets what’s coming and I advise anyone who was under her care and feels as tho something unnecessary was done to PLEASE seek legal action.

I saw Amanda Hoover back in 2013. I went in knowing I needed a root canal on a tooth and walked out with an $18,000 bill for all of the unnecessary work she said I needed done. She put 4 crowns in and now my smile is ruined. Wore 3.5 years of braces for nothing. Such a scam artist she is.

Do not go to this dental practice! They are scam artists. I went to them for a couple of years until I caught on that all the crowns I supposedly needed (conveniently, 1 or 2 a year up to my insurance limits) weren't really needed. Total they scammed me into 4 crowns and 2 root canals and now my bite doesn't even close. The last time I was there the office manager told me, "This price is only good for today" to get me to agree to another crown. I got a second opinion on that one and was told it was not even close to necessary, the dentist did not see a thing to indicate I needed a crown. Search the news, you will see she is being sued for similar behavior with other clients.

This office is absolutely beautiful. all the advanced technology available. BUT, Dr Hoover wants to pay for that beautiful office by doing unnecessary procedures on your mouth. She gave me an estimated cost of around $8,000.00. She wanted to replace all my crowns, take out a filling and replace it with a new one. This was in 2008. I have since returned to my previous dentist in Galveston. I have not replaced any of the crowns or the filling, he said it was unnecessary. She also did a procedure on my son that a few years later resulted in a root canal, caused by trauma to the tooth. We will always wonder if it was caused by her. I have several friends who have had the same experience with Dr. Hoover. Be aware when someone wants to do thousands of dollars of work on your mouth when nothing is hurting!!!

My 18 yr old daughter went here to have a cleaning done as her pediatric dentist would no longer see here since she was 18. After her visit w/ Dr Hoover she was told she has 8 cavities, and needed 2 crowns and a root canal. I couldn't understand how, as she goes to the dentist twice a year, where did this all come from in 6 months?? She did have 1 of the crowns put on as she was leaving for college the next week, so we had this 1 tooth done. (Not knowing this dentist practice at all) When she came home at Christmas, I had her to go my dentist and take the x-rays from Amanda Hoovers office, and he looked over and stated there are absolutely no cavities, and she did not need to have the tooth crowned as he didn't see anything wrong with that tooth. He feels this never should have been done. I called Dr Hoover's office to ask why this happened and they have the most unethical practice I've ever seen. This Dr needs to be taken out of Dentistry. The man I spoke to over the phone stated… that each dentist see different things when they look at an x-ray, and he asked how long my dentist has been practicing, I told him about 30 years and his comment was, oh he's a bit out of date with the technology, so he wouldn't be seeing the cavities on the x-rays. Which I told this guy that my dentist has the updated x-ray machines and that it shouldn't matter as an x-ray is an x-ray. I am turning this Doctor over to the State board of dentistry. Please DO NOT take anyone in your family to this lady. From what my daughter says, it's a really cool office as it has TV's above each of the dental chairs, and the technology is cool, I just feel your just paying off the crap she has in the office w/ crowns, root canals, cavities etc. I only went to this Dentist as she is next door to the ortho my daughter went to when she had her braces, so I assumed it would be a great dentist, someone you could trust, as it's in a new building, but looks can be deceiving.

I recently visited Dr. Hoover's office after experiencing severe tooth pain. I called and they were able to get me in immediately which was greatly appreciated due to the fact I had not slept for two nights. Dr. Hoover's staff was very attentive and made sure I was comfortable before Dr. Hoover arrived to do her exam. She said I needed two root canals which were the source of my pain. With that she said I would also need two crowns. She told me my insurance would max out with the combined root canals and crowns but given the amount of pain I was in, insurance was the least of my concerns. Dr. Hoover performed the root canals and prepared my teeth for crowns. I left the office feeling much better and especially pleased with how well I was treated. I had my mother with me who also scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hoover. This is a great office with a great staff and I highly recommend her.
