Dr. Amanda Enid Darling, MD

I went to Dr. Amanda Darling for support during a very difficult time. During the session, I honestly disclosed that I had been experiencing suicidal ideation, but I was very clear that I had no plan, no intent, and would never act on it because I would never put my family through that pain.Instead of providing support or further assessment, Dr. Darling decided I needed to be Baker Acted because she did not know how to handle extreme trauma. Police were called, and I was involuntarily transported and held for 5 hours at a psychiatric facility. The psychiatrist at the facility later determined that the Baker Act was inappropriate and personally apologized for the trauma this caused me.This experience was deeply re-traumatizing. I was treated like a danger to myself when I was simply being honest in therapy. Dr. Darling’s actions showed a complete lack of clinical judgment and care. Instead of helping someone who was reaching out for support, she escalated the situation in a way that… caused unnecessary fear, humiliation, and emotional harm.I would never recommend this provider to anyone. If you are struggling and need genuine support, please find a different therapist. This experience made me lose trust in the mental health system and caused lasting damage.
