Dr. Amanda Rentschler

Often times in dentistry we are asked what drew us to the field. No, I don't have a father or aunt or distant third cousin who is a dentist. For me, the interest came from my then five-year-old nephew. He was born with a significant congenital defect and lost several front baby teeth early as a result. While he took his temporarily toothless grin in stride, I know his confidence was affected from time to time. And that's all it took: a precious gummy smile from the sweetest boy I've ever met and my interest in dentistry was piqued. Now having experienced so many more facets of what oral health care is all about, I am so grateful to have found myself in a profession where I can help to recreate confidence where it may be lost, and ultimately aid in preventing various oral health conditions in the first place. One of the best parts about my job is that no two patients are alike. The diversity among us and each person's unique presentation is what makes this career so fun and exciting!

…Education and Experience

I grew up on a pear orchard in Yakima, Washington. After helping my dad plant new trees, fix sprinklers, playing a lot of basketball, and graduating high school, I went to Central Washington University where I received a bachelor's degree in Biology. I went on to Oregon Health and Science University to earn my dental degree immediately thereafter. The next adventure life had in store for me was Missouri. I practiced there for two years, but always felt a pull to come back to Washington where the evergreen trees and mountains were home. Before settling in Skagit County, I practiced in Olympia where I met many great people and will miss so many wonderful patients.
