Dr. Ambika Kataria

I want to see a physician, not nurse practitioner for psyche medication management. I have complex PTSD and have violent night terrors. Screaming and punching the air when asleep is a regular occurrence; I even tried to choke my daughter during a nightmare. Today was my first appointment with Dr Kataria. I told her about the night terrors. She then said "that sounds like a sleep disorder. You should call a sleep center." I informed her that I took a med for night terrors for many years, however after a large weight loss, my body cannot handle it anymore. Even after weaning down to the lowest dose my blood pressure kept dropping so low that I was passing out.; this has happened multiple times. Dr Katatia then said "that doesn't sound right . I have lots of skinny patients who take that medication without having low blood pressure." So, she basically called me a lair.. She also said she is leaving that practice in a month and could not be my MD anyway.. I wasted time and… money.

I’m an old patient of Dr. Kataria I beileve I saw her during her residency. All I have to say is hands down the only psychiatrist you’ll ever need. You can trust her judgement and her skills are above any psychiatrist I have seen thus far. She cares about her patience and if I was still in my adolescent years I would see her again. Back in her numc days she would speak to my mother about my diagnosis and sit there with her until she fully understood what I was going through. Like I said best psychiatrist you’ll ever meet.
