Dr. Ami Aalok Shah, MD

Although Dr. Shah is, no doubt, a brilliant research scientist, her focus as a physician does not seem to be on the well-being of her patients. Neither interest nor care was taken when I was delayed in traveling from afar to reach my appointment with her. Arriving 20 minutes late after a difficult drive, I was informed she couldn't possibly see me until the end of the day - another 3 hours. This turned out to be illusory, apparently meant to persuade me to schedule another appointment. When I told her coordinator that given the difficulty of getting there, I would be happy to wait, that option evaporated. The fact that I was not local, had traveled from 1 and 1/2 hours away and was willing to wait as long as it took made no difference. She would not see me. Another patient arrived 10 minutes later for an appointment at the same time as mine and was seen by her doctor. So there are caring doctors here, but Dr. Shah does not seem to be one of them. Based on this painful… experience I would not recommend Dr. Shah. And if you seek care at the Hopkins Scleroderma Center, avoid being assigned to her if you can.

Dr Ami Shah at the Scleroderma Center at Johns Hopkins is wonderful & and has a lot of knowledge in treatment for scleroderma. I don't mind the 2.5hr drive because, there is no place closer to where I live for this treatment. Also Dr. Shah has taken me from a poor state to just about where I was before this terrible disease found me. As to the prior poster, there must be 2 physicians with the same name.

Dr. Ami Shah is listed wrong here and is an oculofacial plastic surgeon in the Raleigh area. I met her for the first time to fix some problem areas in my face. She recommended Botox treatments and I couldn't be happier. She is super smart, kind, and has a wit about her that puts me at ease. I will use her again and recommend her to all of my friends.
