When UHC Insurance would not approve a Catheterization procedure to find an artery blockage, Dr Avendano skirted their red tape contacting carrier doctors directly by phone. Two days later he found two blocked arteries at 100% and 90%, and inserted stents to repair. He saved my life.

Office staff is much to be desired.....don't call back for 3 days......doesn't seem interested in patients concerns.....seemingly has own agenda..

My first visit today to Dr. Avendano ~ I'm potentially a difficult patient because I refuse to wait more than 45 minutes, I expect to be told at the front desk if a doctor is running really late. Dr. Avendano was extremely prompt. I was called back to the patient room after waiting approximately 8 minutes, hadn't even finished filling out paperwork. Once inside, my vitals were taken & shortly after that, the doctor walked in. How refreshing! He was great, very attentive particularly with family background illnesses. He has a good sense of humor and a really great laugh. I thoroughly enjoyed his bedside manner. He was not in any hurry at all. The office is very updated with modern technology, the staff was system savvy. He ordered tests for me, which the other doctor I previously saw did not! He was very thorough in our plan and requested a two week follow-up. I now feel more comfortable and relaxed mostly due to his "complete" examination. If anyone is seeking a great… Cardiologist, I highly recommend Dr. Avendano.

I have been taking my mother-in-law to see Dr. Avendano for almost 9 years. He put in her first pacemaker at that time and has recently put in her 2nd pacemaker. Each time we see him in his office he comes in the room with a smile on his face and is very congenial and caring, and explains everything accurately. We have never felt rushed. I definitely would recommend him to anyone needing to see a cardiologist.

Dr. Avendano performed a stent insertion procedure when I first met him in 1997 when I suffered a heart attack. Since then I have seen him at three or six month intervals. Dr. Avendano is one of the most competent, friendly and caring doctors I have ever met. Other physicians in the area that I know personally hold him in the highest regard. His staff is caring and friendly , especially his nurse, Sonja, who has been a delight to know. Each year he volunteers to help patients in Central America who would not receive care otherwise.

Dr Avendano was very confident in his actions and demeanor. This gave us confidence in him and his plans. His staff is a bit hard to tolerate, make it difficult to get messages to him or his nurse. I was left on hold over 10 minutes until I hung up. I called back and left a message, but never got a call back.
