Dr. Amir Babakhani Agha, MD

Dr. Agha is a good doctor but this last appointment did not reflect that. My appointment was for 1pm and I was told to be there 15 minutes early, which I was. I was not seen until 1:42pm. Then, he had not looked at the results of the MRI that he ordered. I had to bring it up and he had to go download the results. Finally, when i was checking out, the front office person told me my follow up appointment would be with someone else that I had never seen. Dr. Agha is the only person I have seen in that office. i said that I wanted to see him and to please go check with him. When she returned, the response i got was that if there is something crucial going on, he would follow my case but that he is too busy and I have to see the other person. What ever happened to patient choice about the provider you see? If you have that many patients that you just abandon your current patient to someone else if the office because you are too busy, then maybe you should not keep taking on new patients.

I found Dr. Agha to be a very knowledgeable and caring rheumatologist.

Dr. Agha and his staff are extremely knowledgeable in the field of Rheumatology. He is extremely devoted to his patients and their care. He works well with all my other doctors in regards to my diagnosis and treatment plan. He is sensitive to the different insurance plan and coverages. 2 days after the hurricane, Dr. Agha had a staff member call to check on his patients who were due for their infusions. If you have ever been on infusions, you know the importance of keeping them on schedule. Regardless of repairs, he made sure we received our infusions in a safe/clean environment without delay. That's the kind of doctor I want and have.

I have been a patient now for several years and from Dr. Agha being extremely dismissive of my symptoms, The billing staff messing up my insurance claims more times than I can count, to the constant office visits for no reason but in my opinion just to charge my insurance more. (At once point he even threatened to fire me as a patient because I did not want to use a temporary RN he had in the infusion room that they fired (she was that bad, but he was afraid he would lose money to the local hospital's infusion center.) I am going to find another doctor, This makes me sad as I love the infusion room and staff. They are the ONLY thing good about the entire practice.

This place is the best in town Dr.Agha is wonderful and so is Dr. lakesha Rowe

Over the years I have given Dr. Agha and his staff several opportunities to provide care that was acceptable.. They have treated me like cattle more times than I care to mention I am on an infusion and had Dr. Agha threaten to fire me as a patient when I asked if I could go out of house to receive my infusions and not use his services. They are greedy and use every chance they get to bleed you and your insurance dry. They have screwed up more than they have fixed and I have had to fight for every single bit of my treatment. I had already been diagnosed by a reputable doctor when I went to him and he argued the diagnosis just for argument's sake.. he also argued the treatment I was on and took me off my treatment for 8 months while he played around causing more damage only to go back to what I was on and then act like it was his idea. He has lied about side effects of medications that doctors in other practices have given me when the PDR has no such side effect for this medication and… it is also not his specialty. I plan on finding a new Dr. but trying to be covert as I expect backlash when they find out. (PS) the Infusion nurse is the only one on the entire staff I would trust)

Thank goodness I discovered Dr. Agha. Finally, a doctor who is genuinely concerned for my overall health and getting to the bottom of my issues. He thoroughly evaluated EACH concern I have. Totally pleased with staff and entire experience. Staff was courteous and professional.

Dr Agah seems nice, his staff is hard-working.... He is semi-adequate in answering health questions, however, this doctor wrongfully accused me of taking other narcotics from other physicians. Thank goodness I had proof that I informed his office that I had surgery a month ago and that the doctor gave me narcotics for recovery. Without looking in the chart or reading his own notes, the doctor questioned my honesty. Hmmm. Not very professional. This doctor should be a little more thorough in his line of work. And he didn't say he was sorry for jumping to conclusions!

Dr. Agha is a very intelligent, thorough, and compassionate physician. He orders a battery of bloodwork, imaging studies, and additional tests that coupled with his examination lead him to accurately diagnose the problem (s). For the reviews stating that he is greedy and only cares about money because some of the tests ordered have to be scheduled on another day, I encourage you to read this: insurance companies do not reimburse the physician for some services performed on the same day. This would explain why if you had an appointment with Dr. Agha and he ordered for example, ultrasounds of the hands, why the ultrasounds would be scheduled a different day. Similarly, if a patient has seen the physician on one day, and requires an infusion, the infusion will be scheduled another day. There is also the fact that the imaging and infusion departments have their own schedule of patients and so you must get scheduled to receive these services, they are not something you should just… expect for them to have ready and waiting. There are other patients that require services too, and so a schedule is a must to keep things organized and fair. Furthermore, the office works diligently to obtain authorization for some of these services, and so same day is not an option when your insurance company has yet to render a decision on whether or not they will approve the services/medication (s). In addition, he accepts a variety of insurances, and at one time even accepted Medicaid (and he still might) (further dispelling the myth that he is greedy, as the reimbursement for Medicaid patients pales in comparison to patients with private insurance). His wait time for a new patient appointment is roughly 1 month which is VERY reasonable for a specialist. Established patients are usually able to be seen very quickly, even same day (in some cases). Dr. Agha strives for excellence in everything and employs only the best staff and even relocated his practice to a bigger office space, to be able to offer in office infusions, so his patients requiring infusion therapy could receive their care in a more personal (big infusion suite with 4-5 comfy recliners, tvs, and snacks) and affordable environment, rather than the area hospitals and to accomodate the large influx of new patients. He is a wonderful physician and person who is truly dedicated to improving the lives of his patients afflicted with rheumatology issues. His dual certification in internal medicine and rheumatology, and commitment to research and staying current with the latest advances really sets him apart from other physicians. He has even added tablets to each patient room as well as whiteboards, to truly help explain treatment and diagnosis(es)to his patient and/or their families. He is one of a kind!!
