I had a very disappointing and stressful experience trying to schedule an appointment with Bright Horizons Psychiatry. For anyone already dealing with anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns, I would strongly recommend being cautious before choosing this office. I booked through Zocdoc and later received a link to upload my insurance, ID, and other information. Then I received a call saying I needed to complete new patient paperwork. During that call, I was asked very personal and sensitive mental health questions, including questions about self-harm history and specific methods. These are questions I would expect to discuss with a doctor or trained clinician in a private and safe setting, not during a front-desk phone screening. It felt triggering and unprofessional. After the call, I was told I was good to go. I created an account on their portal and reviewed it carefully, but I did not find any clear forms or instructions. The day before my appointment, I received a… voicemail stating they had not received my paperwork, but it did not clearly explain what was missing. The next morning, my appointment was canceled, even though I had already taken time off work to attend. Before I even had a chance to meet the doctor, the process involved repeated steps, unclear communication, and a very stressful intake experience. For a psychiatry office, this matters. Patients seeking mental health care need a process that feels safe, organized, and supportive. Unfortunately, my experience made me feel dismissed and discouraged from seeking care there.

Caring, thorough and informed. For the first time since I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, 20 some years ago, a physician took the time to explain to me my diagnosis and examined every detail to make sure my treatment was at its optimal level. Thank You!
