Dr. Amir A Mirza Alikhani, MD

I had the unfortunate experience of having Dr. Alikhani be the doctor who was assigned to care for (and I say "care for" lightly) when he was hospitalized at Fort Washington Medical Center for approximately 2 weeks for Insulin deficiency, liver disease and acute alcoholism. I had to always contact this doctor to find out my husband's daily status because he never took it upon himself to even bother to stay in touch with me. Also when I did get a chance to speak with him it was like I was talking to some street person or he thought he was talking to a child. On my last call to him I asked what he thought of me having my husband transferred to a Skilled Nursing Facility for long term care and his reply was "if you want to...his liver is shot" and that if when the time comes I wouldn't bother to put him on life support" because it was useless and that his condition was not reversible. I'm not sure why my husband and I were treated with such disrespect. Perhaps it was because we didn't… have Insurance because every time I tried to get my husband insured...he would be rejected because of having diabetes. What happen to the times when doctors really cared and showed concern for their patients...even if they didn't have Insurance.
