Dr. Amirali Masoumi, MD

Amirali Masoumi, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the Interventional Director of the Cardiogenic Shock Program. He is an interventional and advanced heart failure cardiologist specializing in the diagnosis and management of patients with advanced coronary artery disease and heart failure, with a specific focus on cardiogenic shock, advanced hemodynamic and mechanical circulatory support, and complex interventional therapies, including complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
After completing medical school in Tehran, Iran, Dr. Masoumi came to the United States and completed a four-year research fellowship in nephrology under Dr. Robert Schrier, with a focus on heart-kidney interactions. He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University. Dr. Masoumi completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, where he was elected chief …fellow, followed by advanced training in heart failure, transplant, and mechanical circulatory support, as well as interventional cardiology, also at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia.
Dr. Masoumi believes in a dedicated multidisciplinary approach to patient care, particularly for advanced heart failure and complex coronary disease. He has developed particular expertise in interventional heart failure and mechanical circulatory support. Involved in numerous ongoing research protocols, his work focuses on improving the survival of patients with cardiogenic shock.
