Dr. Amitab K Puri, MD

Dr. Puri is an outstanding and exemplary physician. I had employed numerous physicians as a medical care administrator during my four decade long career and have been treated by outstanding physicians at academic medical centers. Dr. Puri I’d among the finest physicians.

I have been treated by Dr. Puri for bronchiectasis. He has done more for me in 3 months that my former pulmonologist has in 3 years. He is so caring, knowledgeable, and proactive. The staff at the clinic are the most pleasant and efficient I have encountered in Tucson at a specialist's office. I was given his name by a dear friend, and I am so grateful. I hope to express to this wonderful clinic how much I am indebted to them all, and most of all, Dr. Amitab Puri. HCC Oro Valley

For my yearly appointment with Dr. Puri I was yelled at for my lack of CPAP compliance, told I was going to die and berated for my weight gain. When I told him I had a stent placed over the holidays he yelled at me "You had a heart attack didn't you?" I had not. I had an episode at the gym that led my Cardiologist to do an angiogram and find an 80% blockage in the first diagonal off my LAD. Dr. Puri ordered another round of useless tests for punishment. I won't be taking those tests or returning to his office. Find another office for sleeping problems. You don't need the abuse this guy serves.

Worst ever

Worst place you can go when in need of medical help, rude and arrogant staff. Long waits as if you had nothing to do. Test can be done in one visit but they schedule them apart (more money). They need customer service training (all).

Don't even make an appointment with this office. Save yourself the aggravation. Office staff is constantly changing, the nice ones don't stay. Dr. Puri is too busy to spend anytime with you, 5 minutes if you are lucky (and I don't mean lucky lucky). His main mission is $$$$$$ - Don't waste your time with this dr.

This is difficult to evaluate. I'd been seeing Dr. Puri for years, even felt we got acquainted, I admired his talented and brilliant daughters, he liked I was making feature films. I saw him 3 xs a year, after a series of breathing tests (COPD). I liked him in-spite of his rather rude receptionist, but the people administering the tests were great, and over the years felt I knew them. The last time I was to see Dr. Puri about 9 mo. ago, I was seen by a different man who was rather abrupt, and said there was no need to return. OK, since Dr. Puri said my COPD was not getting worse. BUT 2 months ago a very different condition arose which I thought might be lung related, so I called for an appt. Twice I was told they would call back with a time, but they never did. I called again to be told I can no longer be seen there, to find another doctor. No reason. She was rude...I was shocked. I'd never been late, always polite, and appreciated the very professional operation they run. … I wrote a very polite letter asking for an explanation, never heard back, and later tried to speak with him. They wouldn't let me leave him a voice mail, I had to tell the receptionist exactly why I was calling, and of course never heard back. I still don't know why I've been dumped. Extremely unprofessional, even nasty. So I can't recommend this office.

I hope that someone reports this Dr. Their must be someone who can stop this Dr from practicing medicine. He is out for the money, and certainly does not care about his patients. Wait times are ridiculous - it doesn't seem to make any difference how long a patient has to wait - they don't care. Run, run as fast as you can away from this Dr.

Beginning with the office staff.....rude, unprofessional and uncaring. Dr. - he makes way too many unnecessary appointments. Could he possibly be trying to fatten his wallet? Without a doubt. He will make 3 separate appointments for issues that could be done in one appointment. Why? $$$$$ The wait time in the lobby is ridiculous. Plan to spend at least 2 to 3 hrs per visit. Then 5 minutes or less with the Dr. Suggest you find a different Dr. soon!

I think Dr. puri is extremely knowledgable, thorough and truly cares about his patients. his office staff on the other hand fails to follow through on requests and does not return calls. I had to call them over 10 times to get a prescription sent to the equipment provider for a replacement CPAP. they failed to do so, were rude and because my benefits year ran out without them doing their job adequately it will cost me an additional $750 to replace the unit.
