Dr. Ammie Elizabeth Christiansen, DO

Dr. Christiansen stands out among GPs for a number of reasons, but at the core is one precious rarity: she listens. She listens when you describe your symptoms, she listens when you describe your concerns, and she listens even to the things you say with body language or without saying. Couple that with her collaborative approach to identifying treatment regimens--she has no reservations discussing research, various treatment options, and alternatives. Dr. Christiansen is a rare find, and an amazing doctor.

Dr Christiansen has been the best family practice Dr that my family has seen. I can tell that she truly cares about myself and my children. She stays up to date with current research. She is very thorough, asks a lot of questions, and makes referrals as needed.

Wow! I'm really surprised to read the other 2 reviews that are so negative about Dr. Christiansen. I've been seeing her for about three years now and like her so much that I started taking my teenage daughter to her about a year ago. My daughter had the same pediatrician for 15 years and we liked her. I also have hypothyroidism and the doctor has never tried to take me off of my medicine. In fact, several times she has increased my dosage and a couple of times I've refused to increase it because I knew the reason my thyroid was low was because I had been skipping doses of my Synthroid. She always listens to me and works with me. The only thing I've ever had an issue with is the front desk staff. They can be rude sometimes. I now they are very busy and that may be the reason they are short with people. However, I work in a very busy school and I am interrupted constantly but I work hard to be courteous to others. It is possible to be firm and kind, both.

After spending 6 months with this Dr., she continued to deny my re-fills for my medication and kept telling me that it was the wrong dose. After calling 5 times and talking with her rude nurse and arguing about the fact that I had been on the same dose for the last three months, finally the Dr. spoke with me. I reminded her of my last test results and her decision to lower my medication three months ago to a certain amount ans she continued to say it was lower and I was wrong, even when I had the prescription in hand with the correct dose. Not only was I frustrated about this, she had continually made errors in the amount of pills she prescribed for the month because she got the math wrong. She is very young and does not admit when there is an error on her part. I have changed Drs since this occurred.
