Dr. Amod Omprakash Sureka, MD

I am a 34-year-old patient with documented chronic pain who presented to this appointment seeking temporary pain relief while awaiting future injections. Surgery has been ruled out due to my age. This was my first visit with this provider, and his only knowledge of my medical history was what was documented in my chart. From the beginning of the visit, the provider’s demeanor felt dismissive and judgmental. At one point, I explicitly stated that I felt judged, and the response I received was simply, “Yeah,” with no clarification, reassurance, or empathy. Despite having no red flags in my medical history, I felt as though I was being treated as a drug-seeking patient. I have diagnosed cervical stenosis, multiple herniated discs (cervical and T1), and scoliosis. When I attempted to explain how these conditions contribute collectively to my pain, I was interrupted and told, “We aren’t talking about that—we’re talking about… what’s causing your pain.” All of these conditions are contributing factors. No vitals were taken prior to the provider entering the room. There was no discussion regarding how my chronic pain affects my daily functioning or quality of life, including my ability to work and care for my three children. I explained that previously prescribed treatments have not been effective and that I had not requested pain medication since October. I was questioned as to why I would need relief now, despite the fact that injections are temporary and their effects do not last indefinitely. I also shared that returning to work significantly increased my pain and inflammation, ultimately forcing me to step down from my position due to worsening symptoms. When I became emotional during the visit, there was no validation, reassurance, or compassion offered. I fully understand and respect the caution required when prescribing pain medication. However, these conversations can and should be handled with professionalism, empathy, and respect. That standard was not met during this visit. I left the appointment feeling dismissed, invalidated, and emotionally distressed. Patients with well-documented chronic pain deserve to be treated with dignity and compassion, and that was not my experience here.

My husband visited this dr. at the recommendation of our PC. After filling out pages of new patient forms, he saw the doctor for all of 45 seconds. The dr. walked in, asked him what the problem was and when my husband responded, the dr. said "I can't help you with that," and walked out. Our insurance was billed $327 for this. When trying to dispute, the billing office doesn't have a clue on why we were charged. Not cool. In fact, I'd say this is somehow a bit criminal to charge an insurance company, thereby my family, for a service that didn't happen and was not explained to us that we would be responsible for charges when the dr. did zero and offered no recommendations. He never even looked at the area of concern that my husband had. Robbery!

Dr Sureka takes care of his patients extremely well and is the best pain management dr in Georgia

I was having lower back pain and Dr Sureka recommended an MRI. The test identified the problem as lumbar vertebra degeneration. Dr Sureka explained in detail my condition and my options. I elected a cortisone injection. It has now been over a month and I am pain free in my lower back area. I highly recommend Dr Sureka and his very competent staff.

Dr. Sureka is a very caring and sweet doctor. He tried his best for fix my hip problem. I certainly appreciated his bedside manner.

I did the chiropractor and PT route with limited relief. After my second treatment by Dr. Sureka my pain is 90% gone. Now I can start the PT routine to get to 100%. Best is that my wife says I am less of a grouch.

Dr. Sureka is the most intelligent, nice and very attentive doctor I’ve had. I see a lot of doctors and none of them make me feel they care as much as Dr. Sureka cares. Dr. Sureka truly cares about the well being of his patients. The Staff & Doctor. Sureka gets 10 stars from me. I Love Them All LL

My wife went to Dr Sureka after having had a spinal MRI. She was having much pain on her right side, even when using a walker. He reviewed the MRI results and suggested options for treatment, explaining the objectives side effects of each. He never rushed thru anything. He took the time to describe the alternatives and then recommended a specific procedure. Although it took a couple of visits, my wife's pain no longer exists and she is able to get around much better. She relies much less on the walker, especially when at home. Dr Sureka is very caring and thorough. You feel he always has your best interests as his major objective and he took as long as necessary to be sure we were comfortable with his prognoses before departing.

I’ve lived in chronic pain for 27 years after being hit by a drunk driver while I was on a motorcycle. Over the years I have seen many doctors and undergone a multitude of procedures (blocks, epidural, RFA), all ending with negative results. With these previous doctors they always rushed me to procedures, some without doing proper assessments. In addition to my injuries, I have a rare allergy to common steroids used in those procedures. Because of the allergies, the procedures resulted in worsening conditions for me. This all ended up making me a difficult person to treat, especially for the “private practice” doctors who don’t have time to work through all of my problems. I’ve even had some doctors refuse to treat me or quickly push me out their door. One doctor stated a scar from the accident looked like I had surgery recently, again without even an X-ray. My experiences prior to Dr. Sureka has been a living nightmare. Now that I have Dr. Sureka treating me it’s a huge relief. … Dr. Sureka has spent a lot of time with me at each visit, he has been working to assess my primary pain locations and evaluating the damage that has been done to by an RFA procedure that left me with atrophy in my leg. He now has me on a treatment plan that is working great and is allowing me to return to a somewhat normal life. His attention to details and sincere interest in my care makes me very comfortable with him as my doctor. His staff is wonderful! I know some people have complained about having to pay for the hospital and doctor, but truly the little bit of extra costs is nothing compare to being treated poorly by other doctors. If you are in pain, there’s no where else I’d recommend you go.

Dr. Sureka and the staff at NF Pain and Spine Center have helped reduce my back pain significantly. Dr. Sureka really listens and takes the time to explain his recommended treatments clearly. The treatments were quick and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and efficient. I highly recommend.
