Dr. Amy Evans, MD

Dr Evans provides the community with with a tremendous service. She has the highest level of training and experience and chooses to live in a small community and serve patients there. Both the of my children have had excellent care ages 8-18. She has helped with general pediatric care, troubling anxiety and an orthopedic problem. Thank you Dr Evans!

She’s compassionate, knowledgeable, and thorough. In a small rural community, her office may be stressed by the number of patients she sees, but we never felt rushed or hurried by her. She listened carefully to my children, as well as me, and gave us outstanding care.

I was able to see firsthand the ability for Dr. Evans to diagnose a more rare orthopedic problem with my son's knee. She listened closely, did all the necessary tests, diagnosed his problem and then referred us to the best pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Vanderbilt. Her care did not stop there. She saw my son back for follow up and helped him to deal with the emotional fall out of the physical restrictions he had on his athletics. Sewanee is lucky to have her world class training and knowledge.

She was professional and knowledgeable with her diagnosis.

This is no as much a critique about Dr. Evans as it is about the office as a whole. We have had about three or four visits, and each time we were required to wait over 30 minutes after vitals. At on point we waited closer to an hour.

My family waited over an hour after our scheduled appointment. The staff seemed to care less about my child being seen at all. I was really disappointed with staff overall friendliness was not there. The dr didn't have appropriate records concerning my child.....and staff communicated to me that they did have all my child's medical records. This was a very disappointing visit overall. I do not want to go back. The Dr also did not listen to me as a parent who knows their child better than anyone.

Sewanee Pediatrics folks are all nice, just don't run office too well. Last three visits we waited 40+ minutes in wait room, followed by avg. 20+ min after vitals. Staff did not follow-up with test results; had to call twice to extract this info. Would not prescribe antibotics until second longer strep test came back 2 days later(and was positive), which added another two extra days out of school.

Met Dr. Evans as a new physician for my 14-year-old daughter and i love her, her manner in working with my daughter. The staff is wonderful. Circumstances require that we speak by phone on many occasions and Dr. Evans is so giving of her time in listening, explaining, and discussing any concerns.

My child attends a local boarding school and my initial contact with Dr. Evans has been by phone. She spent quite a long time on the phone with me discussing diagnosis and possible treatment options. Whhile it is difficult to compare this to a regular interaction with our long-time pediatrician, I look forward to meeting Dr. Evans personally.

Everyone at the office has been very courteous and helpful, whether over the phone or in person. I have been able to get appointments quickly and easily, and have seen the NP as well as the Doctor. Doc is friendly and helpful, and very concerned about her patients. NP is wonderful - very good at explaining everything and great with the kids. Much nicer than my other experiences in my hometown with Dr's and staff. Very pleased.
