Dr. Amy A Gearin

My husband is a physician and I’m a nurse so we have high standards for health care professionals and are very critical of care, cost, and office atmosphere. We’ve lived all over the country and have had dental care by probably a dozen offices, simply due to moving for work. With our medical backgrounds and wide exposure to dental offices, I give Dr. Gearin’s office my highest recommendation for both adult and pediatric dentistry. Here’s a break down of our impressions of her office: Adult dentistry: Dr. Gearin is thorough, skilled, and she takes a whole-mouth approach. While she was treating two neighboring teeth she observed that the gum tissue in between was inflamed and she used a small cautery tool to accelerate the healing process. I left her office with immediate relief. She is aware of dental sensitivity issues and has many prescription-only toothpastes and mouth washes that she provides to patients at almost at-cost pricing. The prescription mouthwash wasn’t… much more expensive than drug store mouth wash and it eliminated my gum irritation that had been an intermittent issue for years. It’s extremely convenient that she keeps these supplies in stock and at affordable prices. I can’t believe how many dental annoyances I was living with that I thought were just my normal and how quickly Dr. Gearin resolved all of them. Again, I’ve seen dentists in California, NY, Texas- all over the US. Dr. Gearin is by far the best practitioner I’ve encountered. Pediatric dentistry: My children are in kindergarten and 3rd grade and both have seen Dr. Gearin for cleanings and check ups. Her team did a great job making the experience fun for my boys. Dr. Gearin personally answered all my 3rd graders questions about how everything worked and his appointment transformed from normal maintenance, to sparking an interest in anatomy. She patiently and warmly answered his questions about baby teeth and showed him his own x rays while doing so. He was mesmerized and left the office excited to come back again for his next check up! Affordability/billing: Dr. Gearin’s office checked my dental coverage and took care of all the billing for me. Their treat emend plan included exactly what would be approved and what my out of pocket costs would be before treatment started. As per my good friend, who’s also a dentist, her prices for porcelain crowns were excellent and she’s also using the top industry standard material. She made my crowns in office so all my treatment was completed in a morning. Beyond that, she guarantees her crowns for THREE YEARS. That’s unheard of, and gives me so much peace of mind. Office staff: The office staff always answer calls, always send appointment reminders, and are amazing at billing insurance, scheduling, and follow up. I’ve never waited more than a few minutes to be seen. Wonderful team all the way around. Appointment availability: If we had a dental emergency (something hurting badly) we’ve been able to get in within a day. For routine visits, we’ve been able to get in within a week, usually within a few days. I love that there’s after school appointments too so my boys can get all their dental needs met without missing school. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review where there wasn’t something to improve upon. After our entire family have been patients of Dr. Gearin’s this past year, we only have positive things to say. If you’re looking for a dentist, this is the office you want. Look no further, Dr. Gearin is a gem.
