Dr. Amy Clark Hessel, MD

Dr. Hessel is currently treating my mother’s cancer and is an amazing and skilled surgeon. She takes the time to explain every step of process and speaks in terms that we can understand. She also gets to know the patient. She is optimistic during the scariest of times. What really stood out to me, is that during my mother’s ten hour surgery the team came out every two hours and gave us a comprehensive update. This makes a huge difference. When speaking to us at this time she remembered our names. She did not have a clipboard or notes in front of her which proved to me that she valued my moms entire family. She was honest and her bedside manner made my mother and myself very comfortable during our visits. I liked the fact that when speaking to the family during surgery she told us percentages of success. I never felt like she gave up on my mother even though her cancer had spread more than anticipated. I highly recommend Dr. Hessel. I have always heard MD Anderson was the best in the… world, and now I can confirm. Words would never be able to express how much admiration and respect I have for Dr. Hessel and her team.

She is first class! She made me father smile like I have never seen. He looked forward to seeing her every time. Although he went through a 15 hour surgery at 87 years old he could not have made it through without her care. He brought her a picture of his dog because she always asked how his dog was doing. 5 stars for sure.

I am currently under Dr. Hessel's care & have no doubt that I am in the right place ,with the best doctor. I have never met a more professional acting doctor & staff. She not only put me at ease,but continues to try every avenue to resolve my ongoing issue. I can't say enough great things about her & highly recommend her to anyone with ENT issues.

We traveled to Houston and MD Anderson because the facility is a world-renowned cancer center. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Amy Hessel and her team's experience and professionalism justified the hospital's stellar reputation. Dr. Hessel was honest and direct about test results and surgical options and she spent as much time as we needed to explain every aspect of my dad's treatment program. Throughout our stay, the entire staff treated my dad with dignity and respect so that we left feeling that our trip to Houston was well- worth the time and money spent and that Dad had received the best available care possible.

Dr. Hessel is a wonderful doctor/person. I echo all the previous comments about her. She is always pleasant and upbeat but direct and honest. I've enjoyed being her patient for 4 1/2 years.

I saw her on a Monday, had been told by another that I was too high risk for surgery...she said, I can do it...and 10 days later I had my surgery and a day after surgery I'm home. She's a miracle worker.

Dr. Hessel has treated my dad for the past three years and she is FANTASTIC! I have been with him during his surgeries and follow up exams, and she is caring, outgoing, professional, and absolutely brilliant. A definite asset to MD Anderson and any other hospital or office of which she is affiliated. My family is so grateful for the person and the doctor that she is.

Dr. Hessel is terrific! She and her staff are clearly devoted to their profession and patients. Dr. Hessel is very caring and takes the time to explain treatment options and to answer any/all questions.
