Dr. Amy Joy Houtrow, MD

Pediatric Rehabilitation and Recovery Dr. Amy Houtrow is a pediatric physiatrist, a doctor specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation for infants, children and adolescents. She is the medical director of the Spina Bifida Program and the Pediatric Rehabilitation Program at UCSF. Houtrow specializes in caring for children with disabling conditions, such as acquired brain and spinal cord injuries, rheumatologic disorders, multi-trauma, amputations or limb deficiencies, cancer, neuromuscular and other neurologic conditions and orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. Houtrow is also actively involved in research regarding access to and adequate financing for quality health care for children with disabilities. Houtrow received her medical degree from Michigan State University, where she was elected to the honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed residencies in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of …Cincinnati Medical Center. She is board certified in both pediatrics and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Additionally, Houtrow earned a graduate degree in public health and health policy and management from the University of Michigan.
