Dr. Amy Elizabeth Kayl, DO

Dr Kayl is a very knowledgeable diagnostician and a compassionate care provider Kind and patient.

Even though my TSH was at the extreme upper end of normal (actually above normal according to some laboratories), I have a family history of hypothyroidism, and was experiencing most of the clinical symptoms of hypothyroidism, Dr. Kayl flat out REFUSED to refer me to an endocrinologist for a second opinion. I am also rheumatoid factor positive. Rheumatoid factor is known to interfere with the results of thyroid tests and additional testing must be performed to ensure correct results. Dr. Kayl had ordered an RF test and was well aware of my being positive. As a DOCTOR, she should also have been aware of its interference with several different tests. Furthermore, a physician should always err on the side of their patient and facilitate care rather than obstruct it. I chose Dr. Kayl because she had appointments readily available when I first came to the area. Now, I know why. I would have been better off waiting for a GOOD doctor. Her attitude leaves a LOT to be desired too. It is so… validating to see the other comments and know it isn't "just me". I have since found another doctor.

She is friendly, but past that she is totally lacking. She has taken several blood tests but still can not diagnose my problem. Her network of referring physicians are all as flakey as she is. Horrible experience.

As a Doctor, she is lacking. She is friendly but her medical skills are another thing.

The last thing a patient wants to hear is I think this is what's wrong and I think it would help doing this and if this and if that. Well turns out she could have ordered blood work to at least help her THINK of what might be wrong. Yeah she told me she couldn't order an x-ray and my insurance wouldn't cover it and that I had to take pt which i was ok with until I almost fainted from which I have a history of she acted like she didn't care. Also told me that my insurance won't let me get an orthopedic until I get done with pt. Well got an appt with one no referrals needed. Lucky for me I'm in a nurologists hand with my fainting and the constant headache I've had to live with since pt. Always had them but now it's a nightmare thanks to not giving me a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. And the nurologist didn't come from her because she didn't care or didn't believe me. Probably both.
