Meet Dentist Dr. Amy Kimes
Dr. Amy Kimes was born in Fayetteville and grew up in western NC. She attended high school at N.C. School of Science and Math in Durham, N.C. before graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Chemistry, and then completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UNC School of Dentistry in 2002.
After completing her dental degree, Dr. Kimes began her service in the US Navy at Camp Lejeune by completing a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program. While at Camp Lejeune, Dr. Kimes joined the 22D Marine Expeditionary Unit to provide care for 2,200 Sailors and Marines. Dr. Kimes was deployed aboard the USS Shreveport and was stationed at Kandahar Air Base in Afghanistan with the 22D MEU. After returning from deployment, Dr. Kimes was reassigned to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. There she provided dental care for military officers pursuing advanced degrees.
In May of 2008, Dr. Kimes purchased her …practice from Dr. J. Ray Mooring, Jr.. The practice had been in operation under Dr. Mooring’s leadership for the past 39 years. Now, Dr. Kimes is delighted to be part of the Mount Olive and greater Wayne County community and continue a tradition of excellence in dentistry.
Dr. Kimes is constantly attending advanced continuing education courses throughout the country. She is currently working towards her fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
When not working at the office in Mount Olive, Dr. Kimes teaches at the UNC – Chapel Hill School of Dentistry as adjunct faculty in the operative dental clinic.
In her personal life, Dr. Kimes enjoys spending time with her husband, Eric and daughter, Valentina. She is an avid runner and loves to garden. She looks forward to getting to know you and your family, too!

We have a dedicated area with state-of-the-art sterilization technology where every instrument is wrapped, disinfected, and made ready before your visit. Each room is also sanitized between patients. AND we perform weekly spore testing with a third party infection control center. You can rest assured that your safety and your comfort are our top priorities.
