Dr. Amy Sergeantgrew up in Iowa and graduated with distinction from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. She then completed an internship, combined with graduate studies in nutrition, at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics. After practicing as a Registered Dietitian at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for four years, she decided to pursue a career in dentistry and attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and then a general practice residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.
