Dr. Amy Michelle Tolan, MD

After being placed on a Kaiser waiting list for two months and being dropped by the first surgeon they matched me up with, I was feeling defensive and reluctant about surgery. Dr. Tolan restored my confidence with her detailed initial call and rapid followup to my questions. The surgery went well, and she always followed through when it came to followup communication with my family and me. She cared about my experience, comfort, and recovery. Kaiser can be a real monster of an institution to deal with, but they have some great people working there. I felt great about being under the care of Dr. Tolan.

Very poor bedside manner. She was dismissive, short, and vague about everything. She constantly minimized my experience and pain throughout. I felt very uneasy under her care and did not feel this doctor cared much at all about me or my recovery. There was so much that really I should of been made aware of beforehand- Or even after would of been nice. Instead I had to chase her around for answers as things came up. This created so much unnecessary anxiety in my recovery on top of the pain. I do appreciate the nurse that helped me multiple times when I called in desperate for tips and help post surgery. I would not go back to her or recommend to anyone.
