Dr. Anaheed Shirazi, MD

Anaheed Shirazi, MD, is a board-certified, UC San Diego–trained adult psychiatrist and physician-scientist dedicated to helping individuals reconnect with their values and develop the insight and tools needed for lasting well-being. She founded Inwardly Psychiatry to offer a more intentional, individualized approach to care—one that allows space for reflection, prevention, and whole-person healing beyond symptom management.

After completing her psychiatry residency at UC San Diego, Dr. Shirazi pursued three additional years of advanced research and clinical fellowship training in integrative psychiatry. Her work provided extensive experience in diverse, evidence-based modalities, including mindfulness-based interventions, compassion-focused therapy, habit formation, and motivation-based approaches for conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, and addiction. She is also certified in clinical hypnotherapy through UC San Diego Centers for Integrative Health.

Dr. Shirazi’s approach is rooted in …the belief that no single treatment fits every individual. She draws from a wide range of therapeutic frameworks, tailoring care to each patient’s unique history, needs, and goals. During her time with the VA San Diego Healthcare System, she developed and implemented personalized integrative programs for individuals with PTSD and addiction.

Through Inwardly Psychiatry, Dr. Shirazi emphasizes the importance of turning inward—helping patients better understand their stories, patterns, and inner experiences. She is committed to creating a thoughtful, collaborative space where meaningful healing and self-discovery can unfold.
