Anai N Kothari, MD, MS

I really, really appreciate Dr. Kothari and his staff. Appendix cancer is rare, and it is very difficult to find someone who is a true appendix cancer specialist. Protocols for this disease vary quite a bit from doctor to doctor. I trust Dr, Kothari's expertise. He is clearly someone who researches, keeps up to date in this constantly changing field, and he has a very calming, caring, yet very, very knowledgable presence. I feel that he has a very good balance of we are going to be very serious and take care of this attitude, but at the same time making very educated choices about not being more aggressive then needed. He explains things very well, and I appreciate so, so, so much that he takes the time to really listen and completely understand my concerns before addressing them, and then takes the time to answer them well, dig deeper if needed, and to follow up in a way that we both feel comfortable with. He answers all of my questions and does not rush that. Knowing that he has this… balance of understanding, expertise, compassion, and care for me as a human being puts me at ease about something that I could be very stressed about. I have a hard time feeling completely comfortable with medical care because, so often, appointments run quick and you leave feeling unheard and like the doctor doesn't really have a true picture of your concerns, etc. And you worry about improper treatment. I never, ever worry about that with him. I feel very comfortable trusting him and that is HUGE!!! His team is amazing and they coordinate care so well. I love that there is a dietician and a mental health person available when and of needed, and his assistant Is amazing! I feel calm when they walk into the room when normally, I would feel very very stressed in this type of situation. They know me personally, and I am not just another patient. I appreciate them soooooo much more than anyone could know.

Very caring and understanding. The friendliness was superb. Felt very comfortable and confident with all involved.
